Singapore has many shopping places and orchard road is one of the most talk-about shopping haven. During the festive season, there will be many beautiful lightings along orchard road and also end-of-the-year sales. For more mid-range to premium brands, you can try paragon shopping centre, forum shopping centre, takashimaya, ngee ann city and wisma atria. (within walking distance) For teenage fashion or cheaper finds, you can try far east plaza (not far east shopping centre), bugis village and bugis in general. Also, there are restaurants offering steamboat buffet at about SGD10-15 in bugis. Vivocity is the newest shopping outlet with quite abit of hype and it is the biggest mall in spore catering mainly brands that are more upmarket. It is located near harbour city station. To experience a taste of heartland malls are part of many locals' daily lifestyle, you could try tampines mall or jurong point. However, all these heartland malls are mostly the same so you do not have to visit each and everyone of them.
For nightlife, zouk and ministry of sound are the more popular clubs during wed, fri and sat. However, you could try newasia bar at swissotel. It gives you a paranomic view of singapore and is simply beautiful at night. Clark Quay is also interesting - many restaurants and pubs and bars too. The newest bar in town is Kandi Bar. Anyways, you can pick up magazines such as "juice" for more information about nightlife activities. you will be spoilt for choices!
Next is food glorious fooddd!!! Please try all the local delights as they are simply wonderful. There are many eateries that open till the wee hours in the morning. You could try newton circus, geylang (its a redlight district too), lau pat sat etc. There are many other places where the locals usually eat at but could be quite inaccessible e.g. punggol's nasi lemak. However, it is definitely worth the trip if you have extra time.
Anyways, to experience the different ethnicities in singapore, do visit chinatown, malay village, arab street, little india etc. Mustafa in little india is opened 24 hrs and it sells literally EVERYTHING.
During the weekends, you could visit Sentosa and chill out at KM8 for some drinks and look at eyecandies =) pls note that dec 9th is zoukout, which is a huge annual beach party event!
and of course, the tourist spots such as the night safari, zoo etc etc.
have fun!!!!!

It's been awhile since I've been to Singapore, but it depends on what your interests are.
Do you like sightseeing? Sentosa Island is incredibly beautiful - you can go there and then rent bikes and bike around there. I believe the Singapore Zoo is in that area, and is really nice as well.
If you like Indian food, visit Serangoon Road. Lots of great little Indian Shops and Restaurants.
Isetan and CK Tang's are a couple of REALLY nice (though slightly pricey) department stores that are worth checking out. Hopefully they're still around, like I said, it's been awhile since I've been to Singapore so I'm not sure how much has changed...
And you MUST visit Raffles and try their famous signature drink, the Singapore Sling. I wasn't old enough to drink when I was in Singapore, but I've heard WONDERFUL things about it. Raffles Hotel is a GREAT place to stay if you've got the $$, but it is quite pricey.
I've also posted a great links to Singapore's main tourism site below - I'm sure there are some great options and tips for you there as well.
Good luck - and I'm sure others will have some great tips, too.
Enjoy your trip!

I will suggest Hotel 81, which is a good budget hotel. Why not try Orchard road, there is a new Cathay Cinema which put up great movies. As for food, u can always visit a neighbourhood hawker centre to experience the average Singaporean's life there, try Jurong Point. All accessible by MRT :- ) Have a great stay.

Tampines mall. A shopping mall right in the heartlands where ordinary singaporeans live their lives. A great way to see the activity away from the city and truely understand singapore and shop as well. It really unique trust me u wont see anything like it anywhere else. U can take the MRT train to Tampines station and enjoy the scenery along the way too!

Hi
FOOD Yes!!!!
1) Sushi Kikuzawa
It serve sushi buffet and all sushi are handmade by chef. I've been there for 4 times. The freshness of the seadfood never disappoint me. Ten counter seats here are packed every night thanks to their simple concept: pay a flat fee and the chef makes all the sushi you can eat. You can either let the chef pick, or order off a ten-page menu. Reservations highly advisable. Lunch $33, dinner $43, +$10 on weekends. There is a VIP room for 4 - 6 persons too. Lunch is highly recommend
Must try sword fish, grilled salmon, abalone, scallop sushi etc.
360 Orchard Road #02-13 (International Bldg), ☎ +65-67383833. Noon-3 PM, 6-10 PM daily.
the rest of good food pls see http://www.sbestfood.com/
