I believe it is spelled Zzyzx and it is between California and Nevada. It is near the border so I'm not sure if it is Cali. or Nevada. You pass it on the way from Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Maybe it was Zzyzx? It's in California. Mojave National Preserve.
