Walking is pretty much a really great way to see NY. 42nd street is an eye opener especially at night. Central Park is also a great spot to just sit and enjoy or walk. Food is really cheap if you eat from vendors but there are places you can eat from that does not cost a pound and a crown, like apple-bees and the olive garden. Nice food at reasonable rates. Try I-hop for breakfast but you will pay a bit more. Museums are also good to visit. Try going to Movie theaters around matinee time before 4pm and you get to in for about $5. Pretty much anywhere else you go you will have to pay a pretty good price to see anything, like the statue of liberty, but she is open only to the lower levels, you can't go all the way up to the top. Empire State building you have to pay, but I don't know by how much. The wax museum and Broadway will cost you money, so if your interested in going there, walk with lots of money. Good luck and enjoy.

Visit the Empire State building, take a walk on 42nd Street, go shopping in Macy's on 34th Street, visit the library, take the staten Island ferry, visit the statue of liberty, Madison Square, Rocefeller Center, Lincoln Center, Trade Towers site, the parks, go on the set of a talk show...the list could go on and on. Just take lots of pictures.

Walk around the city, and only eat from street vendors. There's a pizza truck and some amazing greek food trucks where you can get lunch for under $5 in the east midtown area (51st & Park)...that's not far from the tree and other sights.

Don't listen to the guy that says you'll get mugged. NYC is one of the safest cities around. Feel free to walk everywhere, it's fun, educational and healthy (You'll hardly see any overweighht people there). Don't forget to visit the world trade Center site.

Hang out in Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village and watch the indie movie crews shoot footage, painters etching on canvas, the chess games, sometimes you have clowns and comedians performing for free.

you don't need a lot of money to enjoy the city...just walk around and take in the sights, go to the shops and central park..Rockefeller center. Museums are pretty cheap to go to as well, go to Museum of Modern art, Museum of Natural History--you can pretty much walk anywhere too.

Go see a broadway show! You can get half price tickets on the day of the show at the TKTS ticket booth. It's right in Times Square - you just wait on line & see what's available. But it's so worth it!
