I am going to Montreal around 20th Jan. 2007. I was wondering whether it would be any sales in clothes and shoes?

The proper sales are during boxing day but I guess it may carry on till mid January!

Sales of winter goods occurs in the spring (around the middle to end of March).

Sales of fall goods occurs in late November (just before the Christmas rush).

After-Christmas sales usually happen between December 26 and January 10 ... although some retailers will extend it to nearly the end of January.

This is pretty much the routine across the country, regardless of province. The only real exception is Yellowknife, NWT ... winter sales occur later in the year (mid May) due to the extended duration of colder weather.

Probably not many - the Boxing Day sales will be over then.

Remember, in Quebec most clothes are taxed (14%).

No dude. The best "winter sale" are the After Christmas Specials and those are already gone.

January is a dead period for retail. You might find very good deals, since everybody is busy paying their credit cards after the Christmas shoppings. Welcome to Montreal and Good Luck!
