The Netherlands' official capital city is Amsterdam, though the seat of government, the home of the monarchy, and most foreign embassies are in Den Haag.
I thought that a capital city was the city of a country's administration. How come then that Den Haag is not the capital in the Netherlands?

Ok I'll be completely honest with most of you I'd like to move there. At the Beach at the moment, which is ok, but for what I'm paying out here I think I could do better (1,300). Then again maybe I'm a bit niave about that. Anyway, we're thinking about watching the ball drop in Times Square, but we're unsure if we should take the train from here or just drive up there, where to park if we do drive, and how to hold onto our money, which wasn't a problem the last time, even given the fact that I fell asleep on the train (which wasn't that smart of a thing to do), but that's neither here or there. So, aside from getting up there, how much should I be prepared to shell out for that day or so ...

How many skyscrapers are there? Seriously, because I read an article stating that Miami would have like 71 in the next six years, Dubai like 90, which in most of our minds would suggest that these cities are trying their best to emulate Manhattan. So I'm wondering, technically, how many there are in NYC; not just tall buildings, but those that can technically be considered as skyscrapers. I should have asked his question yesterday when I was blogging about the article ...

learn English. I read a few Japan websites which stated that Japanese people only like foreigners because they can learn English. Also, many Japanese girls only like foreigners because they hate their own race and find White men as a status symbol. I am just writing down what I heard and not saying it is 100% fact. I just want to hear your opinions or experiences on this or anything else you can add...

My wife and I are teachers, so when we go on vacation, we like to get away from children. Are there any hotels in Orlando that aren't kid-friendly so we can lower our chances of hearing screaming, unsupervised kids? Thanks!

I am considering a short break to the British colony of Gibraltar next year. I have heard mixed views on whether or not it is a good destination to pick for a long weekend.
What do you think? Is there much to see and do?

We might visit family in Tucson, driving from the south bay of so. California. We once took some freeway off of the 91 or 60, to Palm Springs, to get to the 10 fwy and because of construction in that area, it was a nightmare!

I may just ge onto the 10 freeway near West Covina and take that all the way to AZ. If we get up really early maybe we can avoid any traffic.

We would leave Saturday before Christmas and come back on the Tues or Wednesday after Christmas.

Anyone know this route and the traffic patterns?

My husband doesn't really want to fly. We have family in Blythe and we can take a stop there for rest.
