I confirm Skype. I have to phone family in Lebanon often. BUT their broadband is not as strong as ours, so the quality of the call is not as good as Skype to Skype in the UK. Their broadband is about half a meg at best. It helps if the person you are calling can take a wireless enabled laptop to the local Starbucks. Seriously - they are fitted out as hot spots, and have as strong a broadband connection as can be got over there.

Skype works only if both people are connected to Skype.
Another good possibility is to get a Post Office International Phone Card - you can buy them at any Post Office for £5, £10 or £20. It's a pre-paid card so you get an amount of time per card (it can be quite a lot as I phone Peru regularly and get around 100 minutes for £5).

SKYPE. if you don't know what it is, try www.skype.co.uk. it proves the cheapest if the person on the other end has skype too (they obviously need to have access to a computer preferably connected to broadband).
you can also try www.budgetcom.co.uk, where you call a UK number and then your number in Lebanon. very good money!

skype if they have the internet , it does'nt cost a penny to talk to anyone who is online anywhere in the world on skype. if you dont have it, download it for free of e-bay, or try to google "skype" you should find it easy enough, then you can also send the program to a friend by a link on skype of e-mail for them to download. then you will be able to talk to them for free. good luck with it it is very easy to use .
