Is it because road bikes are so light? On my mtb i stand up to accelerate quickly.

The resistance I cycle at right now is 9 (1 lowest 10 highest).

I just want to get leaner legs. NOT muscular or large legs.
Would cycling at 9 for 45 minutes, almost everyday work?

So, would a lower resistance or a higher resistance be best?

Thank you :]

My son is age 8 and needs a new bike. He has a 24 inch inside leg does this mean I have to get him a bike with this frame size? I'm a single mum and don't have a clue about this kind of stuff. Also any good bike shops online that deliver quick and will ship to Northern Ireland, most companies only deal with mainland UK. Thanks in advance xXx

I can peddle a bike and once I get going I'm fine, but it's just starting and stopping thats hard. I would like to know how to position my feet on the peddles when starting and stopping; I know this kind of sounds wierd but I would be grateful for any help you could give me!

By the way, when I am sitting centered on the seat, my feet can only barly reach the ground on either side....is my bike too big?

The only painting available to me is rattle can paint. This is not an option, because (I know from experience) over a short period of time, application of the brake will rub the paint off. Powder coating is too expensive, and I will never have a disc brake. Is there something I can spray on the wheels (besides paint) which will protect them from rust without adversely affecting braking, or damaging my brake pads? (I keep bike in garage when not in use, but I still have to worry about the humidity.)

I'm a relatively beginner cyclist and I would like to in the next couple years become sponsored by some company. How do I get sponsored and what does it actually mean to be sponsored in that respect? Do I always have to use their products and can I become sponsored by another company? Thanks, Jay

I'm looking to do about a 50/50 split of road and trail riding. My friend said to get a hardtail and he does about the same amount of riding. My local bike shop (CycleCraft in Morris county NJ) had a Scott Voltage YZ3 and a Trek 4300. Of the two, which has the better features? I was also looking at some Giant bikes and Fisher bikes online. Are the two that my shop has in stock worth looking at or should I also pursue finding a place with some Giant/Fisher bikes??
