My son is age 8 and needs a new bike. He has a 24 inch inside leg does this mean I have to get him a bike with this frame size? I'm a single mum and don't have a clue about this kind of stuff. Also any good bike shops online that deliver quick and will ship to Northern Ireland, most companies only deal with mainland UK. Thanks in advance xXx

Childrens bikes are measured by wheel size. There are generally 12, 16, 20, and even 24inch sizes. The number represents the wheel diameter. If he is 8, rule of thumb would say that he should be riding a 20 inch bike. However, I'd go to a bike shop and see what they say. It's preferable to get your son to test a bike than to order online. A shop will assemble it and make sure all is in safe and working order.

at 8 years old and that inseam, he is in between a 16 inch and 20 inch kid size bike. Take him to a bike shop and tell the salesman you need a 16 or 20 inch bike. If you have to do it online, make sure you choose the right product.

Try Halfords they do the measuring for you. They also have stores in Northern Ireland. They have some good deals on at the moment regarding children's bikes.

Most bikes have adjustable seats. Get a bike that has room for him to grow. The bike fits if he can stand in front of the seat and have his feet flat on the ground.
