Many of my friends who know me say that I am a bicycle freak. It's true though. I like to ride my bike down the hill a lot with my riding buddies. However, people keep asking me isn't dangerous or scary to do that kind of sport? I replied, I think riding downhill on your bicycle is just as dangerous as playing soccer or hockey or rugby as you could get hurt as well or even break your body parts from doing those sports. So, what do you guys think about extreme mountain biking, if you ever seen or tried it before?

The seat cover was stored in a very dusty drafty shed. Dusting didn't remove enough to keep it from ruining a pair of light colored pants.

I am brand new to cycling and I just bought a pair of Specialized carbon cycling shoes. I tried them on in the store and they felt fine, after 2 minutes on my bike, the sides of my feet began to ache (they still ache) just like the aches I used to get from wearing my skates. The pain is on the side of my foot opposite the arch. I can't distinguish if it is a muscle, tendon or ligament pain but it feels like my feet have been squeezed. Common sense suggests to me that the shoes aren't wide enough, but, they are amongst the wider pairs I tried, and my foot isn't wide. The pain was so bad, it made me end my ride after 10 km although I wanted to keep going. I used to think that it was normal for skates to hurt and just put up with it, but now I'm questioning whether it is normal or if it's improper fit.
My feet aren't used to any cycling shoe (I'm seriously brand new... Those were the first 10 km i've ever rode in a cycling form) Yes I was fitted on the bike I purchased but not with shoes

I found my stolen bike after almost 6 months. It needs a new chain and maybe a tune up. It also has some dents in the top tube, almost like someone nailed it with a hammer a couple times. They aren't real deep or anything just dented in a little.
Is that really bad or not that big of a deal?

Where the chain connects to the back tire, it spins. Sometimes it will peddal and move the bike, then the other times it will spin freely.

I am looking for a mountain bike that has a full suspension, duel disk breaks, ez shift levers and easy to take off tires ….my budget is 300 give or take. I know with the features I want it should be $600 to start and it’s not that I don’t have the money… it’s just that I am not comfortable spending that kind of money on a bicycle right now. I have been looking at the Mongoose Blackcomb and the Schwinn S60 do you have any suggestions around my price range

I am coaching a middle school cycling team for an upcoming race. I myself cycle miles and miles and miles, and I know what a good average speed for distance is. These kids though are going to be doing tme trials, and a rely style race where the boys go 20 miles divided by 7, however I/they choose to swich off.

I have no idea what a good time for a lap or two around a track is? I may have some future cycling pros and not even know it! Could some time trialer out there give me some stats on this sort of thing??

Does anybody have a good definition of the phrase "bike-a-thon"? I guess it was derived from the word marathon, but instead of walking or running, you ride a bicycle.
If anyone can get a dictionary definition, please provide a citation (include edition, year, page #, etc.). You can make great citations at http://www.easybib.com/. Thank you!
