Depends upon the sort of terain that you ride on. However, 2.25 is quite a large tyre. You will get a lot of roling resistance off of this. OK for all mountain, but not for fast XC racing. There is a philosophy that skinny = fast. Due to this, many of the Scott racing bikes use 1.95.

I use Panaracer Fire XC Pro 1.8s. These have a silicon coating, but are a good tyre, offering excelent grip and performance.

However, this is for UK riding. A club member who moved to Australia found that for riding in the sandy Australian conditions, this was not a good tyre. But for general Eurpean it is great.

Unless you are relatively brief or have a protracted seat put up, each the ones motorcycle frames are to small for XC and your knees gets screwed. However, I'd pass with the Kona with no trouble since if you are going to get a kind of motorcycles you are an access stage rider and it has a greater body.

I've always has the best riding with continentals. Right now I have the explorer supersonic pro front and rear. It's says it's a 2.1 but it rides like a much lighter tire. It's a great general purpose racing tire, with predicatble handling in all conditions. There are of course better choices for more specific conditions, but if you want a tire that you can trust, that's it.
