Does the front tire on this bike come off easily so it can be transported?

Like mentioned above, they don't... However, we have found it usefull to service this for the customer [if they ask us] to put a QR axle on the front wheel. We charge $22 for the axle and skewer and $25 labor to install it - This works great for use and doesn't deny the customer a much needed feature in some cases.

I can't tell from the website, but you want to ask the shop whether the wheels on the Trek 220 have "quick release." If they do, the wheels can be easily removed for transport.

This year, No. I work in a bike shop part time that sells Trek. I understand that there were some issues with riders not checking the quick release before riding. Young riders tend to not know any better, so you know what kind of problems that can cause.
