There are players today who are labelled "heroes", despite not doing anything truly heroic in the modern world. The question I pose is this: 60 years after Jackie Robinson carried the weight of an ethnic race upon his shoulders and broke the color barrier, what current player carries on that spirit today? What I mean is this: leadership on and off the field, community service, outstanding play, and most importantly, is considered a torch bearer.

I am 15 and want to know if it is alright for me to throw curves and sliders.

Also, as a follow up, is a knuckle curve safe to throw since you don't twist your arm or wrist?

They're a big offensive team, and they're the only team stopping us from going to state every year. We haven't beat them since 1994, anfd they won state in 2004. We have a pretty good defense, but not great. We do have one great pitcher, though.

I always thought their games were better than all the other baseball games out there. Better graphics and more dynamic dynasty options. So why?

Meaning someone whose career was in its prime in the 1980's or did well into the 1980's. Mine was Gary Carter, catcher for the New York Mets, although my memories of him are tempered by the fact that I was born in 1979. What do you think?

If the Brew Crew stayes healty they will win the central, yes the cubs look good but they have no picthing and the brewers do and i belive the young players like Weeks,Hardy and Price will over power the Cardinals. Starting Rotation for the Brewers will be Sheets,Capuano,Bush,Suppan and Vargas and we will have Cordero to close those games out. These next 5 years are the brewers years.

I see that DirecTV has finalized the deal for seven years. But cable can still carry this package if they agree to the terms of this deal which is 7 years and 700 million. Last year of the 230,000 subscribers, only about 5,000 did not use DirecTV.
My question is does anyone here use the MLB package? I never have since we only watch Cub and Sox games usually. So would all Yankee games be shown, or only a few games a week? Do they show both home and away broadcasts for each game, or only one?

ESPN analyst Phillips is Ozzie's latest target

March 9, 2007
TUCSON, Ariz. -- White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said Thursday he hopes ESPN baseball analyst Steve Phillips' latest statement about him is correct.
Because as far as Guillen is concerned, if Phillips is right about his speculation on Guillen's job security, it would be the first time.
Phillips said on the air Wednesday that Guillen is the manager most on the hot seat this season.
It wasn't the first time the former New York Mets general manager has been critical of Guillen. That has left the Sox' skipper to think it is personal.
''Every time I talk to him, he tries to be nice to me,'' Guillen said. ''If I'm in that position [on the hot seat], then I'm in great shape because I have two more years on my contract. And I guarantee him if I'm done with the White Sox, I can go to my house or get another job.

Can someone get him some cheese?
