Rocket signals
Yankees eager to give Clemens $16-18 million
By Jon Heyman, SI.com

NEW YORK -- The New York Yankees took advantage of Roger Clemens' attendance at Legends Field on Wednesday to ask Clemens back to the Bronx, SI.com has learned.

However, Clemens' answer to the Yankees didn't exactly clear up the situation. He told Yankees owner George Steinbrenner that he wasn't close to deciding his comeback plans.

A source on another team said Clemens is believed to be seeking between $16-18 million from June 1 on, which would represent a slight raise over the pro-rated $22 million he made in 2006. That figure probably won't scare off the Yankees or Boston Red Sox but might give the Houston Astros pause. Those are the three teams in the Clemens derby.

It is believed Clemens is planning a June return, like last year when he returned for his third season after "retiring.'' He is 38-18 with a 2.40 ERA since he announced his "retirement'' following the 2003 season.

The last two games everyone played but my son.His strenghts in baseball are pitching. The first game we lost and he pitched an inning the second game we won and the last game was a double hitter the double hitter last night the score was 10 to zero and 4 to zero.We lost big time!!! He goes to all the practices and he pitched for an inning at the first game and had a strike out.One of the coach's assistants told his Dad he would be pitching some last night. He didn't play at all!!!! A lot of parents say that he is also a pretty good catcher. I am going to call the coach but need help in knowing the right thing to say. Please don't tell me thats life anyone. He held his head down as he walked on to the field at the end of game when all the players go out to greet one another. He also told me he wanted to quit.He wasn't whining just depressed. So he didn't play at all last two games. Was only one that didn't play the last two games.

This guy is the biggest moron that ever rose to power. He went in front of Congress with a memo that he himself hadn't even read. He let steroids run ramped and did nothing about it until the government was involved. Now, he's ridiculing baseball fans and driving the game into the ground. And I still haven't forgotten that God forsaken all-star baseball tie!!! Can someone explain to me why this guy is still around?
