This guy is the biggest moron that ever rose to power. He went in front of Congress with a memo that he himself hadn't even read. He let steroids run ramped and did nothing about it until the government was involved. Now, he's ridiculing baseball fans and driving the game into the ground. And I still haven't forgotten that God forsaken all-star baseball tie!!! Can someone explain to me why this guy is still around?

To answer your question, he is there still because he is the pawn of the owners. I look forward to the day when that office is filled by someone who will act in the best interests of the game, rather than the best interests of the owners.

He is still there because he's the only guy that the owners can control. Selig is just a puppet, a mouth piece for all the franchises. Can you imagine the money that would be lost to the league if Selig stood up to the steroid issue and they ended up throwing Bonds in jail? (Where he belongs). It would completely kill the home run chase and destroy all endorsements that are attached to it. The all star tie game was the least of their troubles. Unless baseball cleans up it's own act it will take years to repair the damage that has already been down. I love baseball and I want to see a clean game again.

Because he is the perfect Puppet for the owners. He was a owner and he thinks like a owner. The game is fine Selig is just a figure head that truly has no legitimate power that he is willing to exercise. There has not been a true commissioner since Landis.

I know it's been said several times, but the reason Selig is still there is because he's good to the owners' interests. As long as the owners keep getting more and more money, then they won't care that Selig is pushing away fans (many of whom I'm sure have now opted to follow other leagues, such as the NFL), who by the way, are their primary source of income.

Plus, it doesn't help that he was a team owner himself...

After Fay Vincent was forced out as commisioner, nobody wanted the job, Selig was made commisioner "Pro-Tem" and he has held the longest temporary position ever. If Bart Giamatti did not die in 1989, he would have been one of the greatest commissioners ever. And I live in Cincinnati, and a fan of Pete Rose.

Selig is commish even though he said years ago is was going to step down because he has experience owning a team and has used that to make everyone in baseball rich. They love him
