I know it doesn't matter, but I love seeing guys get thrown out. My money is on Bobby Cox, I've only been to 2 games where the Braves were playin and both times Cox was thrown out. Pinnela has seemed calm so far for the Cubs....but you don't know.

A recent Scottish immigrant attends his first baseball game
in his new country and after a base hit he hears the fans
roaring "Run....run!"

The next batter connects heavily with the ball and the
Scotsman stands up and roars with the crowd in his thick
accent: "R-r-run ya bahshtard, r-run will ya!"

A third batter slams a hit and again the Scotsman, obviously
pleased with his knowledge of the game, screams: "R-r-run
ya bahstard, r-r-run will ya!"

The next batter held his swing at three and two and as the
ump calls a walk. The Scotsman stands up yelling: "R-r-run
ya Bahstard, r-r-run!" All the surrounding fans chuckle quietly
and he sits down confused. A friendly fan, sensing his
embarrassment whispers, "He doesn't have to run, he got
four balls."

"Walk with pr-r-ride man!"

The ticket stub is from the 1958 World Series (Braves vs. Yankees). It was from game 3. Section 6; Row T; Seat 5. It is in perfect condition. Any guesses?

How does it make you feel (proud, happy, angry etc...) to have a bunch of fans all over the country that are just Yankees fans because its easy to be a Yankees fan?

I'm not talking about people from New York or the Northeast states that have no home team. If I was from there I would be a Yankees fan, too, I'm sure. I'm talking about people from California, Texas, the Midwest who only root for the Yankees because they're good. I think a lot of these fans would just as soon put on a Red Sox hat if they started winning 4 or 5 World Series in a row. Does that bother people from New York who are true Yankees fans that people from all over the place just jump on the New York bandwagon? I have to plead ignorance on this, I am a lifelong Royals fan. Our bandwagon only has one wheel and no driver so I have never experienced the feeling of having fans arbitrarily root for my team.

I am sure it is based on the minimum MLB salary, but that would not be very much if they go for one game. Has the MLBPA negotiated anything further?

Have the Chicago Cubs become the New York Yankees of the National League? Also do you think that they will actually be as good as the money they spent?

I love the game of baseball and have since I was very young. But I only follow college baseball and down since these cheating super stars took over the game. I watched baseball exclusively until 1999 when the Baroid, and his pals ruined my favorite sport. The final straw was the weak response from the league president. And to top that off these cheaters are allowed to be in the HOF while shoeless joe and pete sit on the sidelines. I am now a fulltime NFL and NBA fan. Yes I know that steroids are prevalent in these also but at least the leagues acknowledged that there was a problem before congress had to drag them through the mud. MLB was and is completely content to profit from it. I will always love this game but can't understand why so many people still follow MLB.

Even though I'm a Giants fan, I must admit that it is uncomfortable to put an 80 year old man through this kind of attention.

So if that is the fo)mula, does the Rockies not fit? Young hitting (Holiday, Adkins, Hawpe), healthy startng pitching (only team to use the same 5 starting pictures until September call ups, now they are deeper!) and bullpin (Fuentes is sick! with young guns in front of him in Rameriz and Corpas.) Not to mention leadership with Helton, Lopez, and Carrol. So what is stopping them?

I think the Rockies with thier young hitters and semi decent rotation will suprise some people. I'm not saying they will be great, they just will suprise. So who, and why?
