No...They are getting thier regulars some work for a few innings, getting thier pitchers some throws to help set up thier stamina, and taking looks at young prospects and use this trying to figure out who is going to do what for thier team. Of course the people who have locks on thier positions are gonna just get minimum work in spring training games, but they will find someone who has gotten better with a bat or added a few extra mph over the winter, and someone that they really didint know existed 2 months ago will be going to the show with thier club in April

Teams use spring training to try out players. So sometimes you get retardedly lopsided games. They also use it however, to decide what players will start at given positions, and who will be sent back to the minors. But you see a lot of games where teams like the indians beat teams like houston by like 11 runs just because.

Rosters must be cut by opening day.

Now is the time-the managers must decide who will make the team and who will be cut or sent to the minors.

Regulars get some playing time, but their making the team is a given. Borderline players need all theexposure they can get, and the team given them as much playing time as they can.

These aren't bad players, they
re either young players who might not be ready, or older players who want to play "one more year."

No, its time for everybody to get in shape for the regular season, some teams even play spilt squads, half plays one team here and half plays another team there, so everybody gets to play and the managers can look at who's on it and who will be starting in the regular season. We are going to Arizona next week to see some Cactus League games and are hoping to see Vladimir Guererro and maybe even Barry Bonds

Well, there are like 60 guys on the team and everybody has to be given a chance, even if they know by now who's staying and who's going down.

In spring training the teams use their new players and they use players in the minor. for the players in the minors its pretty much a tryout for the team. and for the new players is like a check up to make sure theyre worth what the team paid/gave away for them.
