Do you want to have good 'baseball colors' or do you want your readers to 'mellow out' when they are reading your blog? My husband is a professional web developer, and I am frequently called on to 'consult' on colors he uses and we both think that your 'color scheme' is really good for any business that is 'mellow' ... say a meditation center, a church, etc. ... but that you may need more 'striking colors' (try using your 'favorite teams' colors) to make your 'baseball blog' stand out. The 'layout' is good, but I don't know that it 'works' well, either, since I can't 'see any BLOGGING' going on ... and isn't that supposed to be the MAIN THING on a 'blog site'?

Use the Yankees colors... or your favorite team colors.

I'd go with different shades of blue. Other than that it looks pretty good.
