They have a great chance to win it all. Yanks are down this year, and here's why.
1. Pitching is fair at best. Mussina is steady, but he's old. Pettite is supposed to be the second coming, but if he's so good, why did they let him go three years ago? He comes back old and gray. Pavano? Get Serious. I'll give the nod to Rivera, but Farnsworth? Dumbest acquisition of the Cashman era.
2. Hitting is on a downward spiral. A-Fraud can't get a clutch hit if his life depended on it. Matsui hasn't gotten a clutch hit since the 2003 playoffs. Giambi just cheats every game with HGH. Abreu oblique will linger all season. Cano peaked too early. Mientkievich can't hit a basketball, let alone a baseball, Posada is so old he's sponsoring "Just for Men".
3. As long as Don Mattingly is in some way part of the team, they will never win. They won the year before he got there, never won during his playing career, won big after he retired, and haven't won since he's been hitting coach.
Yanks suck...3rd place at best...maybe 4th.

I think the Red Sox, if healthy, will be one of the best teams in the majors. J.D. Drew is actually just as good as Trot Nixon (both injury prone and have high OBPs), Willy Mo Pena has been showing improvement and I think Lugo will be a great addition. The rotation is very good this year. Beckett will have a much better year, Schilling will be good as always, Wakefield will be an inning eater, Papelbon will be good for 5 or 6 innings and Matsuzaka has a great pitch arsenal with good control. People have been saying that the bullpen will be really bad but looking back at the past world series winning teams (since 2000) only two had great bullpens (Angels and Red Sox) at the start of the season while all of them (Diamondbacks, Angels, Marlins, Red Sox, White Sox, Cardinals) had great starting pitching which the Red Sox may have this year. Look out Yankees this could be the year that the Red Sox win the division.

This is one of the most popular questions in the department. Everyone knows who the contenders are. We have Yankees, BoSox, White Sox, Detroit, and the Angles. Next part is who is going to challenge these teams. We have Blue Jays, Indians, Twins and a small challegne from A's or Rangers if SP holds up. We all should agree that Baltimore, D'Rays,KC, and Seattle has to have something short of a miracle to challenge the above teams.
The National league top teams are the Mets,Phillies, Braves,Cards,Cubs,Padres, and Dodgers. The pretenders will be Reds,Astros,Giants, and maybe Marlins 'cause the kids just don't relize that they are not that good, just excited. Which means,Pittsburgh,Milwaukee,Col... and d'Backs are just hanging around waiting for the games to begin.
The Yanks will beat out Red sox, Detroit will win w/ White sox and Twins right behind them and Angles will dominate the west. Wild card should be Boston.
Mets will hold of the Phillies w/ braves a very close 3rd. Cubs will beat out Cards w/ 2 of the smartest managers today. Astros and reds will make it interesting till Sept. San Diego will win the west w/ dodgers in 2nd by 6 games. Wild card will be Phillies. They have the SP with SBs and power over the Cards who will collaspe in Sept. caused by injuries. The American League will be represented by Detroit again. they have well balanced team w/ SP, bullpen, power, And a good manager. Their collapse in the WS will motivate them.
My National team will be... (and this hurts) .. Chicago Cubs. They brought in the right people in the right places.
World series winner is the cubs,,, Hex is over.

The Red Sox have no center Fielder, JD Drew will get booed at every at bat halfway through the season, and they have no depth in the bench, other than that, if papelbon and Matsusaka can pitch as starters in the major leagues they will have a good season as always. Not Great, and they wont win the Al East but theyll do better than their third place finish last year, The Yankees always had the offense and this year boosted the rotation and bullpen, melky cabrera and Bobby Abreu have great arms and Johnny Damon is one of the best defensive center fielders in the game, Their infield defense is Ok, but with all that power and pitching you dont need much defense

A distant 3rd behind the Yankees and Blue Jays. Their pitching is weak. To say that the Yankees defense is horrible just tells me that you don't have a clue. If Boston is putting all their hopes on a triple A caliber pitcher from Japan, god help them!! You Beantowners are in deep do-do!!!

in case you evaluate the two communities skills smart, you will possibly could desire to assert the 2007 group is greater effective. the huge form one glaring assessment could be Bellhorn vs Pedroia. Bellhorn replaced into on hearth in that sequence together with his homers, yet we could face it, he's the strike out king. regardless of the reality that it pains me to assert this, yet i think of Drew is in all probability a mushy greater effective than Trot. (sorry Trot). Orlando Cabrera is a few distance greater effective than Lugo at SS for specific. i think of Damon and Coco are a wash with of course Damon having the homers status out, yet Coco and his protection is amazing. YOoook in the beginning up is an improve vs Doug Mientkiewicz, in many situations with the bat and Lowell is purely amazing with the bat and the glove. As pitchers go...i think of the it somewhat is even. Beckett is greater effective than Pedro, we nonetheless have been given Schilling and Wake, yet i will of course supply you Lowe over cube-ok outstanding now. I purely think of the 2004 group have been given warm on the terrific suited time. returning from being down by using 3 video games positioned them on a intense that gave St. Louis no risk to win. The chemistry of that group of idiots is what have been given them there. They have been loose and not intimidated slightly. right this is hoping the 2007 can accomplish what 2004 did and bring living house the championship to Boston!

This "Dice-K" as they call him is way over hyped. He hasnt pitched a single inning in real major league baseball. They say he did great in Japan, well how come more japanese hitters are not playing the mlb, because they're not as good as mlb hitters. But otherwise they should be decent. Gotta watch out for the blue jays though.

Dice-K hasn't pitched a game in the majors, and they are over hyping him. Schilling isn't getting younger, and Beckett tends to give up home runs. Papelbon is making a tough transition to starter. Nobody knows how he is going to do. Piniero is an unproven closer. In other words, they will definitely do worse than the Yankees. The Red Sux will continue to suck.
