Jose Reyes. He has a deadly combination of speed and power. He may not be as much of a homerun hitter as Carlos Delgado, Carlos Beltran or even David Wright, but he doesn't really need to be. His speed and ability to get on base mean enough danger. That's why he's the perfect leadoff hitter. Rickey Henderson really helped Reyes a lot. His plate discipline really improved and his on base percentage went up by 54 points from his 2005 season. And we're talking about a guy who's not even 24. Imagine how good he'll be in the future.

Jose Reyes is by far the better player. A better balanced offensive and defensive player as well. Jose is more disciplined at the plate then Carl. I am not taking anything away from Carl Crawford, as long as he plays for a team that averages nearly 60 games under 500 and a team that is guaranteed to finish nearly 30 plus games out of first place is not going to receive the credit that this young man deserves. If and when he opts to free agency and goes to a winning team that is a contender, then and only will he be recognized as a decent ball player. Until then Carl, Jose will remain in spot light again this year.

Since you specified "offensive" I would say Reyes has a better chance this season of having a better year than Crawford.
Crawford is 25 and has improved slightly each season(5)
BA-305 OB%-348 SLG-482 SB-58 CS-9>2006
The big thing with Crawford is, he's been the best defensive corner outfielder in baseball since he came up. Yep even better than Ichiro.
RF-2.46 FLD%.993
Jose Reyes is only 23, and made a big jump with the bat last year.
BA-300 OB%-354 SLG-487 SB-64 CS-17
The down size is, his defense has gone down hill. Last year his RF was an abysmal 3.86 , the FLD% was average at .971 but only 71 DP's for a full time SS is very low. >3.86 means he turned 89 less plays than the "average" of anyone who played shortstop last season(not the average full time ML shortstop that would have been even worse)> If you go oh well, what's 89 more or less outs. well since 18 hits over 600 at bats is a 30 point difference in BA>He would have had to hit 148 points higher than the average ML shortstop to make up the difference. Just to be an average "all around" ML shortstop.

Reyes is one of the most dynamic players in the majors, Reyes brings a unique and exciting combination of average, extra-base power and speed. The switch hitter will have plenty of opportunities to steal and score atop the Mets' lineup for years to come.
Crawford continued to show improvement in 2006, establishing career highs in home runs and batting average while again leading the A.L. in stolen bases. He has a great attitude and is motivation to become an even better player.
For me, I think Jose Reyes is the better player.

Crawford is more consistant since Reyes just did it the last two years while Crawford has been doing well for four. Crawford has a worse team and still is in the same sentence as Reyes that is why he is better. If you put Crawford on a winning team with someone behind him he will shine. Reyes just gets more press because he is in New York that is why everyone else will choose him over the much better and more under rated Crawford

no longer truly. they are both quick, yet Crawford is a slap hitter, even as Reyes is a line stress hitter. Reyes performs a first position, shortstop, and Crawford performs left field. BQ- perhaps starting day and the first few video games, yet save in ideas it truly is Florida baseball. BQ2- It wasn't a nasty signing, besides the undeniable fact that it truly wasn't nessasary. they have Leo Nunez. a good looking good nearer in his own suitable.
