Talk about sour grapes >1999 AL MVP > Ivan Rodriguez led the Texas Rangers to the Western Division Championship hitting .332 with 35HR 116 Runs Scored, 113 RBI's and 25 stolen bases, besides winning the Gold Glove for catchers as usual. The Red Sox finished second to the Yankees, it's almost impossible for a pitcher to win the MVP award.

IMHO Martinez had a better season "statistically" in 2000 .

AL ROY- Alex Gordon
AL MVP - Alex Rodriguez

Alex Gordon will be ROY, I agree. Tex will finish second in the voting behind Big Papi David Ortiz for MVP. A-Rod will fall off the face of the earth hopefully, I hate the dude.

Delmon Young for ROY - better line-up than Gordon

Vladdy for MVP - look for the Angels to make noise in the West

I didn't really think of Dice-K as a rookie, but if he's eligible he'll probably win it.

Ortiz will hit .310 with 59 homeruns and 156 RBI, but the Yankee sportswriters won't vote for him, and it will cost him the MVP.

Remember back in 1999 when Pedro had the best season, statistically, in the history of baseball? His ERA was two runs lower than anyone else's. The Yankee sportswriters claimed that they "don't vote for pitchers", didn't even acknowledge him on the ballot, and gave the award to someone else.

Little did they know it just took a brief look at the records to show that they voted for pitchers in the past...that's just sad.
