Almost every time I go to my karate dojo, I always seem to end up paired with this man who is several inches taller than me and considerably better built. I'm 16, he's a grown man, we can both spar well but he just kicked my ***.

He swats away what I consider my best stuff, as if he were swatting away irritating flies.I remember myself sending a big spinning kick his way, and he caught it, leaving me hopping stupidly for a couple seconds. And then he hits me again and again, getting under my guard with a combination of feinting, making me flinch, and spinning attacks.

And he does all this with a benign smile on his face, as though he was watching a small child struggling to spell a difficult word. It's infuriating, not to mention annoying.

Sigh...

Even when a catcher is positioned inside the baseline and the runner has access to part of the plate, he can be run over (ala. Erstad vs. Estrada several years ago). I realize "the fans" like to see the collisions, but it happens so frequently now, young kids are thinking it is OK to do. I have seen more than one kid get kicked out because of this play.

I haven't heard of anyone taking an instigator penalty yet. Anyone know of an instance when a player did this season?

Hey, not that I miss it or anything. Is it unofficially gone though?

This actually occured to me during the last Pens/Caps game (Oct. 20th). Matt Pettinger started the fight with Jordan Staal and wears a visor, where Staalsy doesn't. To Pettinger's credit, it looked like he remembered this and tried to take his own helmet off while they were grappling. Whether it was because of that or Staal, it did come off.
