Nan -- Oh, c'mon. What are you thinking? Have you seen ONE PERSON HERE ON Y/A talk about liking anyone in the broadcast booth? Look at the responses to the four entries I made. Not only a lot of 'I like so and so' but a lot of passion, too. Delete me if you will, but there are finally some people here saying 'I like' instead of 'Isn't so and so bad?'

Adam -- I'm done. But look. Why does everyone have to think it's cool to say, "Hey, so and so sucks, don't they'? I become frustrated. Look at the responses saying, "I like so and so". That's all I was after. Now I can cut and paste these responses when the bashers get out of hand.

DCskater and giantsfn -- I can add you to the list of people who like Buck and McCarver. Where have you been all summer? There must be 40 or 50 entries tell us how bad they are. I just wanted to see if ANYBODY liked ANY announcers at all.
Thanks guys!!!

Okay, Gene. I was interested enough to where I tried to answer your question about announcers before, and which ones I felt were accomplished at their craft, but it wasn't good enough.

I did participate, but it wasn't good enough. So, I'll give up. The towel has been thrown in. :(

I apologize. Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are great announcers. I won't doubt the Buck family ever again, and I'll learn to love the charming malapropisms that make McCarver America's greatest humorist since Mark Twain.

Go Joe and Tim, and go Yankees, too.

There is nothing wrong with Joe Buck and Tim McCarver. They are good to listen to. When Jack Buck was alive he was great. Vin Scully is the best in baseball. Joe Miller is one of the best too. When Al Michaels used to do baseball he was great.

Not all baseball announcers are bad.

Way to inspire defense for the announcers. That's a tough job in baseball! So much downtime to find a way to fill. Trust me, it's not easy.

Out of all of these topics, I see no mention of Howie Rose and Gary Cohen as "bad." No need to defend them, then. They are quite good, can't go wrong with either one!

This was entertaining.

And yeah, I can live with Buck and McCarver, I actually don't mind them. I think they're good. It's Joe Morgan I don't like as much...him and John Sterling. But hey, tough job.

For the most part you are correct. I grew up with Vin Scully and the Dodgers and without question in my mind Vin Scully is the best baseball announcer during the past 30 years. He is knowledgeable, articulate, a great communicator, and a credit to the game, I wish we had more like him.

The ORIOLES actually have a pair of EXCELLENT announcers! It's not every game, though.
JIM PALMER is the color commentater about 50-60 games a year...but he has earned it.
When he does call a game, he is funny, lnowledgeable, always with a story and teaching.
DEFINETELY one of the best!
His partner, Gary Thorne, is a solid play by play man.

ANOTHER GREAT ANNOUNCER IS A GUY I HAVEN'T HEARD ENOUGH, BUT IS ONE OF THE MOST BELOVED MEN IN THE SPORT!
BOB " I MUST BE IN THE FRONT ROWWWW" UECKER

Vin Scully is a great announcer. He knows baseball inside and out, never says idiotic things like McCarver, and can even make watching golf almost enjoyable with his style.

Vin Scully and Joe Morgan say good things about both teams and know the game inside and out.

This is all your opinion. I'm sure somewhere in your rant is a few bad announcers but I know that my hometown announcers DON ORSILLO and JERRY REMMY are GREAT announcers and I will never back down on that. have you ever even listened to them?

If you think they are so bad, why not start an announcing career yourself and stop asking this question.

There are plenty of good announcers. The ones on FOX and TBS are crap. Matt Vasgursian (announcer for my Pads) is very good and he's on MLB 07: The Show.

Also, the Diamondbacks commentators (Mark Grace and someone else) there entertaining to listen to.
