You can run over any player in the baseline/blocking a base. Problem is, if you run over a 2nd baseman you'll probably go past the base and put yourself in position to be an easy out anyways.

It's not really ok it just happens more often. If you think about it depending on the situation most of the infielders aren't square with the bag, and if they are the runners aren't gonna plow em with the fear of going off the bag. You don't have to worry about going over the bag at home so they just run as hard as you can. Plus the only way for a catcher to play our spot is to get square with the bag and block it will all we got.

Little League may have different rules than the Major Leagues. It is to protect children from getting hurt.
In the pros, a runner can run into any defensive player. The difference is that you only have to touch home plate to score a run. On the other three bases, you have to stay on the base once your reach it, or you get tagged out.

What the heck league to these kids play in? AAU and Little League certainly don't allow play to deliberately collide and have many more rules regarding that type of thing for the safety of the young players. Any youth ump worth his salt throws such a player out of the game, no warning.

You can run over position players if they're blocking the base.
You can only run over the catcher however, if he's blocking the plate, and the ball is heading in HIS direction.

You can run over anyone blocking a base but not at the same intensity against a catcher. Maybe you should inform your little leaguers against this. Especially if they think little league is like the Bigz..

The catcher is wearing protective equipment, making it more acceptable to run into him.
