The Cubs aren't going to let Piniella get away. Kelly isn't coming out retirement, and neither is Craig. Anderson can do without the hassles at his age.

The most interesting name on your list is Gaston, who certainly should have gotten more credit for winning two world championships. You'd think that would be good for a second chance at a managerial job.

I'm reading that the Yankee front office is split between Mattingly and Girardi. Mattingly is inexperienced, while Girardi showed in Florida that he wasn't willing to take much interference from ownership. That means there's no perfect choice out there.

Sweet Lou is under contract with the Cubs and isn't going anywhere. Besides, he's been thru the Yankee/Steinbrenner circus once. Why would he want to put up with all that nonsense again?

Lou will stay with the Cubs. I think the Yankees will hire Mattingly.

Last I checked, Sweet Lou HAD a job!

Are half these guys still around/alive? Give it to Tony Pena! Keep it in the ex-Cardinals family!

Doesn't matter..it's already a done deal. The Yankees made their decision before even interviewing. The meetings are just a formality to please the commissioner.
