Do you celebrate them, or are you still stuck in the old American "all that anticipation and Christmas is already over on the 26th" rut.

Please be respectful, as I have been... I am curious.

It's a Christian holiday, celebrated because of Christ's birth, so if you celebrate... why, just for the commercialism?

or religious teachings, practices, etc. some Christians take it as a personal afront? Aren't they secure enough in their beliefs to be able to welcome debate?

I am an adult who was born to a mother who has never been a moral person. She has done some truly vile things to me and others over the years and continues to do so even at the age 70. I am having a difficult time understanding how I am supposed to honor her when her belief system is so opposite of what I believe to be honorable; when her actions are so mean spirited and confrontational and always have been. My value to her is a financial one only. When she no longer has a crisis, then I am not of any use to her and she treats me badly. I can not respect her because she is not someone to respect. Sad but true. Alcoholism and mental disease are only the tip of the iceberg. Her sickness goes much much deeper, from abuse to actually trying to leave me with a known pedifile at the age of 12. She is toxic. But now she has developed signs of Alzheimers and needs someone to care for her well being. She is too mean to put in a nursing home and not that gone yet. How do I honor this woman?

I try, I fail; I tray again, I fail again,...

I have no motivation, so I close my door....

Suddenly I saw someone grows so high, but I remain the same.

I lost my ambition to higher level, for long time, I have no steady life and income. I lost direction who I am, and what I do.

I don't think I make this happen. I believe I can control my life, but outside world do control me, I can't avoid it.

I can't blame these people, this society, I can't change past, but can I make future better?

If I can go higher level, I can see further, my vision, my world will change, life will become exciting, isn't it?

i can't remember where i heard it from, but the argument was essentially that Jesus himself never claimed to be divine, and all this talk about his divinity was fabricated after his death. what is basis of this argument?

PLEASE no agendas or bias. i am NOT going to be converted into Christianity over teh internets. if the question offends you, then I am not asking you! thanks!

I'm talking about people who say, "God will never put more on you than you can bear." That is NOT in the Bible. Why do people think this is true. Do you think Hannah was able to bear being barren until God opened her womb? Do you think Samson could bear his death as it was happening? False teaching in the church has many people running in the other direction. Don't pastors and ministers see this?

1"For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire men to work in his vineyard. 2He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent them into his vineyard.
3"About the third hour he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4He told them, 'You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.' 5So they went.

"He went out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour and did the same thing. 6About the eleventh hour he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, 'Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?'

7" 'Because no one has hired us,' they answered.
"He said to them, 'You also go and work in my vineyard.'

8"When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, 'Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.'

9"The workers who were hired about the eleventh hour came and each received a denarius. 10So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. 12'These men who were hired last worked only one hour,' they said, 'and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.'

13"But he answered one of them, 'Friend, I am not being unfair to you. Didn't you agree to work for a denarius? 14Take your pay and go. I want to give the man who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15Don't I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?'

16"So the last will be first, and the first will be last."

Okay, I asked a couple of questions here, and I have gotten some good answers (thank you), some off the wall answers (okay ... um ... thank YOU) and some downright nasty, self-righteous answers as well. If you think I'm wrong, am a big sinner, so be it. The fact of the matter is, every Christian deals with doubt at some point. Every Christian deals with things they thought were God's will, but things did not turn out the way they had been led to believe they received direction for, and it causes confusion. If you say you have not experienced this, chances are you are not being honest in this forum, or it just hasn't happened to you YET. Whoo hoo. Of course I am not silly enough to believe that I should hope in man, but I have put my hope in God regarding some fundamental things in my life, and I am still standing on the curb waiting for the freaking taxi. If you don't like that I question, or make a "thesis" out of Christianity, that is a personal issue. So, wouldn't you be annoyed?

Yea, there are examples of older religions disrespecting the new ones, such as Catholocism disrespecting the Protestants but usually newer religions have to curse-out and defame the older ones.
I myself, am a Jew. In our synagogues on Saturday, we pray, read the Torah, the rabbi makes his sermon of the weekly portion and ties it to life lessons. In no way, are other religions, or politics even discussed. One because these are mundane matters, and two because we don't say anything about other religions.

But you see undercover tapes from Mosques, and the Imam lambasts both Jews and Christians to go to hell as unbelieving infidels and so on...
I also had the oppurtunity to attend a Lutheran Church service when I stayed the night at my friend's house. Constantly, again, the pastor spoke about Jews in a derogatory manner from the Gospels, which I found uncomfortable, but no one seemed to notice around me. I asked my friend about it and he was like, "what do you mean?"

So on the block is a g@y bar and a church

The bar -has a bunch of people in it - that are dancing drinking and socializing -

The church has a bunch of people in it teaching division and laws about an invisible sky god - who needs to have people killed for disagreeing with him

Even if this church/sky god now preaches love - it has a dark and horrid history that does not bode well for his character/family life etc

Even with the "love" comes the statemet god doesn't want you to do that it is bad - division and hate and I am better than you permeate the message

Meanwhile at the g@y bar an argument over drapes has begun and ended - there might be a purchase of a toy poodle tommorow and so on

Which is more dangerous to society

Which is most likely or has had a past of promoting violence to get it's way

My ex husband had our children baptized in a Catholic Church without my knowledge. I'm not upset about it at all. I just have some questions so that I can at least help my children learn a bit more about thier religion. Their father is in New Orleans and we are in San DIego so they only go to Catholic church a few times a year. My questions are.

Would my children be accepted in any catholic church in my area or do they have to go to the church they were baptized in?

What is "caddykizzim"? I did a spell check and still not sure if I spelled it correctly.

SHould my children decide they don't want to attend a catholic church, rather seek out another religion, would they always be considered catholic?

As you can see, I am not catholic and have no idea on how to help my children with this when they ask me questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any negative responses will be deleted.

Thanks!
