There is a lot of "biblical quotes" that are not in the Bible. Some are misquotes of the Holy Scriptures such as the one you mentioned. It closely resembles 1 Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has seized you except what is comment to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear."
I know that God will allow things to happen to you that are beyond what you can bear, so that you will turn to Him for help. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gently and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." (Matthew 12:28,29)
The two cases you presented, they couldn't bear the problems, and they turned to God. That is what God wants, when we are troubled, to come to Him.
Most people think this statement is true, because they've heard it so many times, they have come to believe it to be so, without checking for themselves. The Holy Scriptures are not just for believers, but for all to read and to come to know Him through the sacred writings.
Most Pastors I know (myself included) deal with this misconception on a daily basis. A lot of times it is from well meaning people trying to comfort someone at a time of distress. We have to lead them to Jesus for their comfort.

Samson asked God for his strength just one more time and God granted his quick prayer. Samson knew he would die with the building coming down.
It is not false teaching. You just don't understand. Before God will give you something totally unbearable He will take you to heaven with Him.
These trials that people face only makes them stronger. If they had no trials they would go around thinking they were perfect with nothing wrong with them. God tells us to count all trials joy, because God disciplines those He loves. What loving father wouldn't discipline his children?
Here is the verse that you said is not in the Bible.
1 Corinthians 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you
but such as is common to man:
but God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation
also make a way to escape,
that ye may be able to bear it.

Hi.
That is a correct statement. It is not in the Bible. GOD loves you. He made you, he is your Father...So why would he want you too suffer or hurt in anyway? He doesn't.
There is another god (of sorts) that runs amuck on this free Earth. He was a fallen angel, he fell from grace. He has power over this Earth and can pull the blinders of Almighty GOD over your eyes if you allow him. He inflicts the pains and troubles of this world. He released sin with the temptation of Adam and Eve. With sin came sickness, pain, suffering and death. His power will only reign until the second coming of Christ. In the meantime, read John 3:3, go to a good bible based church, Announce Jesus as your Lord and your Savior, put your trust in his hands.... and don't worry about pain, suffering, inflictions etc because even though they are all inevitable, you can bind and rebuke the enemy. Remember you will beome a new creation through Christ. His Holy Spirit will be inside of you. The old Man died and a new spirit being is in you and is as pure as snow. Jesus not only died to wash away our sins but also our infirmities. (sickness)
Your eternity is worth it all.

In the process of looking up the scripture I see that Live4Ch has already answered your question. But since I am already here I will answer it also.
1 Co. 10: 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to BEAR it.
God Bless

Like many phrases attributed to the bible it is grossly over paraphased and misconstrued.
That saying is a very diluted paraphrase of this...
1 Cor. 10:13 --
No temptation has overtaken you but what is common to man. And God is faithful, he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way of escape so that you can stand up under it.
I lost my son to violence. At the time I didn't think I'd survive that, yet I did. Another saying is, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. I always say, If God doesn't give us more than we can bear, I wish He didn't trust me so much. ;)

little sis,,,, absolutely the bible does say God wont put more on us than we can bear, and yes Samson bared it, Hes dead isn't he ,, and Hannah did bare it did she not . so they were able to bear it, God never told you it was going to be an easy way to walk with him,, in fact He told you to put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand the whiles of the devil, as far as false teaching ,, if this is what you call false , you are incorrect. let me ask you a question if i may. if you quit serving God will all your problems be gone,?
will you not still have hard times in your life and one day die?
now that we see ,, that it rains on the just and the unjust , quit pitting yourself and just trust God... not meaning to be mean, but you must get off the pity party, if God will ever be able to bless and use for good.

PLEASE read 1 Corinthians 10:13 ....... But God who is faithful will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. This has words like--not tempted beyond what you are able (able to bear) escape the temptation that you will be able to bear it. This doesn't mean we will be 100% ffree of trials and bad things in our lives. It means that when bad things happen we should turn to God, seek His help, and He Will give it. That doesn't mean He is going to go like "whoosh" -problem gone. It's more like He will show us how to withstand the problem. Look at it this way. Why does an athlete practice so much? When they practice, they work out a lot, they put stress on their muscles, they sweat, their body aches, they become exhausted. But are they better for it? Does it make them stronger? Does it make them a better athlete? Yes. yes, and yes. A fruit tree sometimes has its branches pruned (cut back). This makes the tree kind of try harder, grow new limbs and become stronger because of it. The tree withstood trial but makes better fruit because of it. God deals with us in the same way. We will have trials and bad things happen to us but we can become stronger, better people, more able to help others, have stronger faith and reliance upon God because of it. God can, but may or may not take the problem away fully. But He will give us aid to overcome it. The above Bible verse displays just that.

Well dear, people say many things that are not in the Bible. Some pretend that the Earth revolves around the Sun, others pretend that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old. You even hear scientist talk about evolution of the species. Worse of all, some pagans speak about television, internet, cars, planes etc... Things that obviously cannot exist since they are not in the Bible.

I was just explaining this to a friend last night.People say"God will not put more on you than you can bare".I'm sure no loving parent would, but my question to them is this "all that you're baring, did it come from God or did you create it".Most of what their baring is a result of "bad decisions" and the need to see any amount of hope in their seemingly "hopeless situation" lead many to spout out these words.
It's to imply that God is somehow "working" in the middle of their mess. The next time you hear this said, respond by saying"I agree-God wouldn't,so I guess this mess must belong to you".

Even worse, there is no evidence for any of the events you mentioned, or any others, as being real events. Here's a simple test, walk in to a nearby rest home (don't neglect to be friendly, and take time to talk to the residents) and observe 90 year old women. Do they look like the could or should have a baby? The next step is to look into human reproduction and find out what happens to male sperm production as the males age. OK, Hannah might be a miracle, but the rape of her handmaiden is totally unreasonable.
