After Romney's speech tomorrow, the press will be pointing out the differences between traditional Christianity and Mormonism. Are you concerned that talk of "Heavenly Mothers" and of God being a man exalted to Godhood will detract or attract people to Mormonism?

Are you a Christian? This means you believe in God, that God sent his Son Jesus to die for us.

Also where are you from? If in US, give me the state, if outside US you can just give the country.

I want to know the general consensus on YA. Thanks.

How does it take faith to say, "Since you can't bring forward any unequivocal evidence, there's no reason why I should believe it, just because you say I should"?

How does it take faith to NOT believe in something without evidence? (And no, reasonable doubt is not relevant in the context of religion).

In pointing out the holes in religious theories?
The idea of God is infallible. It is based on faith alone, and therefore needs no proof. You cannot turn someone around by logic because every argument can be turned around due to the omnipotent, omniscient character created choosing whatever subject raised to be that way.
So the only person who can decide what to believe is that person.
So what is the point in all the arguments?

Is the devil talking to my through my YA point system?
Or is it god telling me to repent? Repent!

They have placed it on the sides where you can barely notice it, if at all.

Is this an attempt to try and make everyone happy, Atheist or Christian?

Or is it a small step in removing it completely?

assuming of course that the bible is factual, adam and eve ate from the tree of knowledge of all that is good and evil. before this they knew not what sin was, therefore whatever they did could not be considered sinful. so, how can anyone say that anyone who does not know the difference between right or wrong, good or evil, is a sinner? isn't the lesson of adam and eve that we cannot sin until we know and understand what sin is? certainly, this would explain why we so rarely try children as adults. how can anyone make a claim that a child is evil or sinful before a child and even comprehend what these terms mean? seems pretty evil if you ask me.

Section 666 of Title 42 (the Social Security Act) (42 USC Sec. 666) -- now requires every state, as a condition of Federal Revenue Sharing, to obtain "the number of your name" before you can receive any state services (e.g., a license to work, a license to drive, a license to marry).

Perhaps we are all marked by the beast . . .

(I'm not trying to piss people off. I just want to know what you all think)

Consider the following. God created everything. God created Man, so that he might have free will. This is what makes Man unique. His other creations would have no free will, therefore.

Angels are presumably the creation of God. Why would one or more rebel, unless he wished them to?

I've been trying to learn about Wicca and have been given a book for teenagers (I'm 33) by my brothers girl friend who practices, she said this book puts it in simple terms. Are there any other books you recommend to read or even websites to visit? My interests are purely personal and spiritual.

If scientists could read your brain - and then transfer it to a computer or to another body... would you consider doing it?

If you believe in God, do you think God would be angry? What would happen to your soul?

My boyfriends mother is mad because I wont allow my son to believe in Santa Claus! Growing up in my family we didint do that sort of thing because my family takes our faith very seriously. She didnt want a fake man to overshadow our saviour. I repect her for that. My boyfriend doesnt have a problem with it. She wants him to take pictures with Santa and I said no. Am I wrong for standing by for what I believe in. I have asked a question similar to this before. He is 7 months old and he shouldnt be lied to now or when he grows up. He can have an imagination when it comes to othere "holidays" but I dont mess with Easter and Christmas! Do you agree she should back off. She raised her sons I think she should finally allow me to raise mine the way I want.

Note: Do not bring up connections other than those mentioned. Most of them have similiar flaws but they aren't the point here. Sorry for spelling mistakes. I'm not doing a spell chack.

I often here it said that there are parallels between Christianity and other deities, the main one being Jesus and Dionysus. They make these main comparisons:
Dionysus was crucified
Dionysus was resurrected
Dionysus was born of a virgin mortal woman
Dionysus was called 'liberator'.
Dionysus turned water into wine.

I used to think these were very convincing and believed them for a time, when in actuality, after I studied a little more I found that these parallels were extraordinarily more complicated than this, suffice to say, they are vague superficial lies.

I'm going to present these in the manner Atheists usually do, with no historical or textual evidence delving further into the generalizations.

Let's look:

(remember, these are presented as a 'so called' scholar would present them.)

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Your Bible (New World Translation [NWT]) says:
"In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god."

Your very own publication "The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures" state "god was the word."

Your reasoning: "If the word 'god' follows the word 'the', it implies 'the god' (ho theos) or Jehovah (articular); but if the word 'the' follows the word 'god', it implies someone or something is "godlike" or possesses the same qualities as God."

Then how would your reasoning fit John 20:28?
"Answered Thomas and he said to him The Lord of me and the God of me." -- John 20:28 The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures.

Going by your reasoning, was Thomas suggesting that Jesus is Jehovah because the singular predicate noun "God" follows the indefinite article "the"?

There is a little girl in my son's class who is a Jehovah's Witness. He will be giving all the other kids a Xmas card and I don't want to either offend her by giving her one, against her beliefs, or to leave her out. She doesn't celebrate New Year either so I could really do with some advice ! Thanks in advance.
