English is not my first language, and both words seem to mean the same, to me. Is there any difference, in meaning or in usage?

Do you use both? If not, which do you prefer, and how/when do you use it?

Thank you for your answers! :)

Have a wonderful day! :)

I recently got into a bit of a debate about this over e-mail. We were discussing the fall of man. My opinion is that before God ever created the world He knew man would fall. This is why Jesus is called the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world. Their opinion was that if God knew man would fall then God had set into motion intentionally all the evil man has done and thus God could not know man was going to fall.

What do you think? Do you think God knew man would fall before He ever created us?

and we had more power in the government, would you willingly accept the laws changes we would make?
What if, instead of just seperating church and state, we made religion illegal. (remember this is hypothetical) Would you comply because we are the majority so we must be right? Or would you fight back for you individual rights and freedoms?
Why is it difficult for many of you to see why we don't want to live under your religious rules? Do you also realise that just because you are in the majority, it doesn't give you the right to be bullies?
Thoughts?

I am a recent convert and I'm starting to regret it. Read what someone posted on my other questions:

Pixi Kiss- my heart goes out to you for being a recent convert to Islam.

Muslims are taught to lie in order to preserve their religion. It's called Taqiyya .

If you really study Islam, the history, you will turn away running as fast as you can.

I can see why you may have been seduced into the religion- there are many beautiful passages and sayings in the Qur'an... however, everything that is beautiful and good in Islam was stolen, borrowed and plagiarized from OTHER legitimate religions!

For example did you know that the following facts have been thoroughly documented by devout muslims in islamic texts ? ---
*muhammad robbed caravans,

*he beheaded 600-900 men of the Banu Qurayza tribe after they unconditionally surrendered (and took the women and children as slaves)

*he had many wives but even more slave girls that he raped Quran 33:50

I just thought I would say it. There are no issues with separation between church and state here.

Small Pain In My Chest
by Michael Mack
The soldier boy was sitting calmly underneath that tree.
As I approached it, I could see him beckoning to me.
The battle had been long and hard and lasted through the night
And scores of figures on the ground lay still by morning's light.

"I wonder if you'd help me, sir", he smiled as best he could.
"A sip of water on this morn would surely do me good.
We fought all day and fought all night with scarcely any rest -
A sip of water for I have a small pain in my chest."

As I looked at him, I could see the large stain on his shirt
All reddish-brown from his warm blood mixed in with Asian dirt.
"Not much", said he. "I count myself more lucky than the rest.
They're all gone while I just have a small pain in my chest."

"Must be fatigue", he weakly smiled. "I must be getting old.
I see the sun is shining bright and yet I'm feeling cold.
We climbed the hill, two hundred strong, but as we cleared the crest,
The night exploded and I felt this small pain in my chest."

"I looked around to get some aid - the only things I found
Were big, deep craters in the earth - bodies on the ground.
I kept on firing at them, sir. I tried to do my best,
But finally sat down with this small pain in my chest."

"I'm grateful, sir", he whispered, as I handed my canteen
And smiled a smile that was, I think, the brightest that I've seen.
"Seems silly that a man my size so full of vim and zest,
Could find himself defeated by a small pain in his chest."

"What would my wife be thinking of her man so strong and grown,
If she could see me sitting here, too weak to stand alone?
Could my mother have imagined, as she held me to her breast,
That I'd be sitting HERE one day with this pain in my chest?"

"Can it be getting dark so soon?" He winced up at the sun.
"It's growing dim and I thought that the day had just begun.
I think, before I travel on, I'll get a little rest ..........
And, quietly, the boy died from that small pain in his chest.

I don't recall what happened then. I think I must have cried;
I put my arms around him and I pulled him to my side
And, as I held him to me, I could feel our wounds were pressed
The large one in my heart against the small one in his chest.

It is written that God sent His Word & healed us from all our diseases. And that God would want us to prosper & be in health even as our souls prosper.

And God gifts chosen Christians with the gift of Faith & Healing Ministry. Or elders in the Church to lay hands on the sick & they shall recover & if they sin their sins are forgiven. I believe we have to do an act of faith, believing in our hearts God wants to heal us, to be healed. To not be critical of the person God gave this Faith & Healing Spiritual Gift to. But to look instead to God the Healer who gives the gift of Faith & Healing to the person obedient to Gods call.

bukhari, volume 5, book 59, number 637: bukhari is the most trusted book about islam. the prophet sent khalid to bring him the [khumas= 20% of the booty which belonged to him and allah]booty collected on a raid including girls, children and animals. ali had just taken a bath after a sexual act with one of the captive girls from the booty. when we reached the prophet i mentioned that to him. mohammad said "o buraida he deserves more than that from the booty. it is well recorded that mohammad raided 86 villages in the few years he was at medina. in the following sura's allah tells muslims that its ok to raid villages and have sex with the women and girls, the married women had their marriages annuled[abrogated] by allah. so the muslims wouldn't feel bad about sex with married women sura424. 23:5 23:63 35:50 70:30 . are these a good example of a prophet and a god? why will muslims attack another religion, in the belief that it make this look good?

I don't understand this really, I just want to know why G-d would create someone with powers that they either can't help but use, or are not ALLOWED to use. I don't really believe in psycics...but I do think that if they are REALLY psycics or anyone that has connections with the paranormal, then why is it such a problem to talk to spirits? Is there secrets that cannot be found out?

Some people responded saying the lady should be fired or be sued. If she is not in a government job, or a teacher at a public school...what is the justification for either of these opinions? Are we no longer free to express our beliefs in public? The email was not negative in any way, what in the email is offensive to anyone?

I just don't get it. Some of you really need to not be so uptight and so easily offended. This is what is wrong with society right now. People are too easily offended and cry about everything. Relax a bit people, enjoy life and don't feel like a "religious" email has somehow dramatically reduced your "rights".

What I really want to know is this, On what basis would be justified in firing or suing this lady?
