HUMANS go to the doctor for WHATEVER needs to be done by a doctor. If God did surgeries we'd all know by now.

This is a sad attempt at an insult.

Believers would seek the knowledgable advice (and skills) of a professional (the POPE would tell you were dumb if you did not (that was to the person who blatantly lied up above). Afterall God gave the person the brain and the ability to pursue and acheive quality in their medical skill.

Most surgeons by the way, 76% ( according to the University of Chicago Medical Center study) are believers also, so you know. So obviously God encourages surgery and Surgeons. In fact Luke the writer of the gospel was a physician and their mainpatron saint (along with Cosmas, Damian, Panteleon, and Rapheal the Arch Angel all of whom were physicians or healers). In fact considering the idea of community hosptials and medical schools were started by (and most still are) religious insititutions (particularly Catholic) you have show you have really very little understanding of religion or the medical arts.

Physicians prayer of St. Luke says:
Inspire us physicians with professionalism and with the divine compassion for our patients. Enable us to cure the ills of both body and spirit that afflict so many in our day. Amen.

I hope you really want an intelligent answer. Depending on their faith a believer will go to a surgeon. They will also pray that the surgeon will be guided by God for the best results in surgery.

No, they go to the surgeon, and then thank God after the surgery. After all, 8 years of school plus another 6 of residency does not matter with a god to guide the surgeons hands.

I ask God to direct the surgeons hands. And that the person who underwent surgery heal very fast. Above & beyond their expectations that others will marvel. When I pray this way & it comes to pass, I give God all the Glory.

Also, I do encourage people to be prayed for & sometimes to prayed for by the laying on of hands. Sometimes God does a quick miracle & there is no need for surgery then.

I think "God believers" are supposed to believe that God created man to be educated enough to be doctors, lawyers, surgeons, etc. I have, however, seen those stupid shows where some woman hasn't walked for 30 years, then all of a sudden gets out of a wheelchair after being touched by some minister she's probably paid a lot of money to in "contributions" over those 30 years. I think it's a bunch of junk.

LOL Yoda...you beat me to it!

God enables people to do things. It is foolish to not take advantage of His provision.
In my own case, God allowed my doctor to discover more than a few things wrong in my physical body. Totally out of the blue, what people would call a "coincidence."
I was ready to go, accepting that whatever happened, it was entirely God's choice.(I speak now of a cerebral aneurysm)
People prayed for me, confident God would use the doctors to heal me. I myself knew that it was still in God's hands, and whatever He chose would be done. I accepted whatever He chose. (Just because we ask, doesn't mean we'll get the answer we want)
I am thankful to still be here, able to do more for people, and for enjoyment. When they clipped the aneurysm, it had grown to the size of a large cherry, or grape tomato. It should have burst, but it had not. The doctors couldn't figure out why not, but we knew.
But still, there are other issues I deal with, and I do thank God for them. These thorns in the flesh do keep me humble, which is a needful thing.

Both.... while we go to a surgeon to be operated on we also pray and ask the Lord to watch over us and to help the surgeon while we're on the operating table.
