In pointing out the holes in religious theories?
The idea of God is infallible. It is based on faith alone, and therefore needs no proof. You cannot turn someone around by logic because every argument can be turned around due to the omnipotent, omniscient character created choosing whatever subject raised to be that way.
So the only person who can decide what to believe is that person.
So what is the point in all the arguments?

There are two separate issues here...one is the arguing about the validity of various religious theories, the other is the existence of "God". They are not synonymous. You can believe in God without any particular religious affiliation (as I do), and you can be a 'faithful' adherent to a particular religious belief system ('theory' or 'religion') and not have a personal relationship with God. Arguments arise out of the fact that each and every person has his or her own ideas about what spirituality, religion and "God" is...or is not. Is there a 'point'? Maybe not, but wouldn't it be boring if everyone agreed on everything? That's why we're here...especially in this forum...:)

Yes, there are "holes", these are called "mystery's".
Although I prefer to discuss or debate certain aspects of any religion, I see no benefit what so ever in any religion that starts a war over religious beliefs. Such as terrorists/martyrs that kill/murder innocent people.

Yes, your right only you/anyone can decide to believe in God. This is called Free-Will, this is a gift that God gave us all.

Lastly, these arguments are a learning tool. If anyone wishes to be closed minded, and not learn about other peoples belief 's, they are subject to hatred, and prejudice attitudes towards people.

I see what you are pointing out. I know people that walk away from any discussion(s) pertaining to religion. But, just try to broaden your horizons at least a little more. This way you will learn something new, perhaps.

Because religion affects my life in many ways.

It restricts my freedoms eg Sunday shopping laws.
It leads to the persecution of homosexuals.
It stifles scientific progress eg stem cell research.
It opposes the freedom of coice regarding abortions.
It extorts money from the vulnerable.
It offers the false hope of prayer rather than encouraging personal affirmative action.
It engenders intolerance.
Ultimately it leads to the horrors of 9/11,......... only those whose brains are addled with religious nonsense could ever believe that something like that was justified.

Thats why theres a point.

First of all God's word tells us not to argue. We are to share our faith of how Jesus has changed our lives, with love. Some people have been blinded from the truth for a reason that only God knows, so we plant the seed, hope and pray for the one who doesn't believe. That's the point!

There is little point in argument.

To share bits of vibrational symbols of relatively higher truth however is not argument, but a responsible sharing of what one knows with those "ready" to awaken to such bits from within their own Apapsyches [Operational Energy of ones Soul].

There is a very important point, indeed. Religious theories lead people to commit terrible acts. If we are to end such acts and the oppression and discrimination caused by religion, we must end the religion.

Some people who argue their religion as "better" etc., actually do it from their opinion that they're doing something good. As long as they're not causing any harm/suffering then I say I let their opinions alone.
