Religion & Spirituality - 1 December 2007

So I'm Buddhist and so I know nothing about God or Jesus or anything that deals with Christianity, including the Bible. So when I tell my friends I dont celebrate Christmas or when I ask who is this person or who is that person, they all give me looks and like im stupid or something.

What can I say to them that can make them understand?

My uncle used to be a hardcore athiest and i used to live with him. One day at night the dog was barking real real loud so me and my uncle both woke up and went in the living room where the dog was barking an then we both so the angel the dog was barking vicously at. Then the angel said "Here is your turn to be saved" then it dissapeared in thin aie and the dog stopped barking then we both went to sleep. And the next day me and my uncle were talking about the angel we saw so i know i wasent dreaming anyways can an athiest explain what happend

I'm not sure what I believe, I was raised in a christian home, and I wonder if it is wrong for me to continue going to church if I'm not sure of my beliefs anymore. I dont know if I should tell someone in the church about this, or if they would want me to stop going. I dont want to offend anyone.

This guy whom has repeatedly thried to have me killed, arrested, fired and any other loonie thing he comes up with (guys a drug addict whom had a nervous break down I got the job he wanted and he went nuts when he was canned) anyways thats about all im getting into on that one I found him today lying in an alley dying and I saved him, knowing he would still try to kill me and drive me insane after i saved him anyways telling him it doesnt matter you want to kill me leave that till tomorrow, ill make sure you live til them. When I did that other employees seen what happened and were astonished I didnt leave him to die I personally couldnt do that to someone but they all said I was stupid I could have walked away. i disagree but am interested in peoples outside view on things am i stupid cause he would help me or a better person for it?

I was asked to put together a project for my church to put together hymns, prayers, and wisdom sayings from different religions for the winter season to honor the religions of the world. I am familiar with about 16 different religions, but current Wiccan texts and traditions are not among them. The themes are "Light shining among the darkness", "Peace and goodwill towards all", and "Joy to the world". Antiquity is a plus---I'm already using some ancient Egyptian and Greek hymns.

The Watchtower Society teaches that the Bible is inspired but must be properly explained ("illuminate" ) in order to be understood. The governing body of the organization is the only group supposedly qualified to do the illuminating.

However, their illumination has changed many times. Why would not the authors of the book have been the best ones to do the job?

If you use the F word you are violating, in which language can we speak to look angry! If I say, that is totally wrong or I totally disagree with you, does it show any anger..bleh, one can't express himself freely anymore...LOL.

What other word can substitute the F word? I appreciate your suggestions.

I read in the bible that sunday morning Jesus told mary he still hasn't gone back to his Father. Instead he was in hell...that is in the grave and temporarily ceased to exist (that's what hell is...annihilation! muahahahhaha!).

I am dating a wonderful Lebonese Muslim man. I am Christian, and he doesn't expect me to convert and has never asked me to either. We expect to get married and start a family eventually. He has said that he expects the children to be raised Muslim not matter what, no questions asked. I don't think that is fair to me or my faith whatsoever! What do you think I should do?!

I didn't check the question til like 10 minutes after I posted it, so I couldn't add details because noone would see them.
So anyways, I'm saying there's always a 1st starter. God would be the 1st starter of the universe. Saying "Who created god?" would mean there is a never ending chain of creators, which, ofcourse, isn't true. I'm just saying noone created God, he was the first creator. Everything has a creator but God because he would be the first. I'm not saying you believe this, of course, because I'm telling Atheists this, i'm just answering your questions.
