I was chatting with my Jewish friend.
she said for Hanakuah, they are killing a cow to eat or something.
Without painkillers, meaning the animal would feel the pain.
I asked why cound't give it some painkillers.
It's kosher law to slit the throat of the animal and let the blood drain out while the animal is still alive.
Sad D:

So is this true?
any jewish people, do you guys do the same?

Why do people think we focus on guilt so much? Why does it anger people that Catholics set high standards for living? Born and raised Catholic, I dont understand this. I just watched vespers from St. Peters and heard the pope speak (this is what got me thinking about this...) he said something I really liked, "each child born is a sign of God's faith in man."
What do you all think about that quote in relation to the question?

...the fundies contend? By this reasoning, the existence of the Mississippi River proves that Huckleberry Finn was a real person.

All over in this section there are criticisms of Christianity, Islam and atheism...but I hardly ever come across anything about Judaism. Frankly, I dont know much about it. I went to Catholic schools and come from an Islamic family but am an atheist...so im clear on all those. But Judaism is almost elusive.
What are its origins? What are its main tenets, its holy books?
And what are its criticisms? Because frankly, I think the other three seem to get bashed all around but it appears there are no criticisms to be had of Judaism? Im not calling for hate, Im simply asking why is there no discussion of it?

And also, what are the views that Jewish people usually hold of non-believers, homosexuals, abortion, afterlife etc. From what Ive gathered, they are more tolerant than the other two religions...but I could be wrong.
And also...is the Old Testament a part of Judaism? I remember hearing that it was the Torah...once more, could be wrong.

Educate me!

Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Mormonism...all of these place women in a subordinate position.

I only see Wicca as celebrating women. Are there any others?

the last day on earth came, and you found out that God was real and you were all going to suffer in hell?

Actually think, don't same something like "That would never happen". Seriously think about what you would do. Would you cry? Try to talk it out with God?
(You know you'd care if you went to hell)

I met a chick who told me shew grew up in church all throughout her young life, and her father was a preacher. Her brother is now a pastor in a small church in Arizona. She is a full blooded native American and says shes Christian.

Now heres the weird part, she claims that according to the bible, when humans die they become gods.

That humans are the bride of Christ, and after tribulations, she will become a god.

She says the holy trinity is evil, and that it represents 3 different gods, not one. And that god doesn't accept people baptized in the name of "father son holy spirit"

She believes that before there was light, the world was covered in darkness and that in this darkness roamed the first humans, which were dark skinned!

lastly, she believes in serpent seed doctrine, that eve had sex with satan in garden of eden, not that she ate fruit.

She claims that this is all within the bible and is what she firmly believes. it freaked me out a bit. Is this chick satans soldier?
