Hopefully, I'll never have to but I would if there were no Christians running. I'd look for wisdom and character - whatever is closest to a Christian's.
(I'm so glad we've got a Christian president now! No matter what people say, that man is a such a Godly man and America is so much better because of him!!)

Hi. :) I'm a born again, fundie Christian. That said, there are a couple of things. First, I've never known of a presidential candidate who said that he or she was anything other than a Christian --- or at least not one who won a major party nomination. So it hasn't really come up. I'm not saying that they are doing anything other than paying lip service to God --- but it is His to judge their hearts, not mine.
I would say if in a future election someone ran and they claimed to be something other than a Christian, it would largely depend on how smart and wise they seemed to be. I'm not trying to diss our current president, but he's the most vocal Christian I've ever seen run and he's left this country an absolute mess in my opinion (and please don't tell me I don't support our troops --- my husband is in the military --- I cook for and kiss our troop(s)!). I would have infinitely preferred to have a president who was wiser and smarter, and I would have voted for a non-Christian who fit that bill had he run against our current president last election. So yes, I'm sure it could happen again.

Depends. How about the Christian we had as president before Bush. How did his values stack up.
Splinter it is very hard to read a persons heart, especially through our dim glass.
Yes I would prefer someone with my values.
I can't make a blanket statement as to weather I would only vote for a Christian. I would vote for the person I think has the best character traits and pray for him to be honest, and wise, and for God to watch over us.

You vote for whoever you think is the best person to represent you ..What if a Christian didn't run?
Besides do you really think that it matters whether we vote or not?.. It is all fixed so better to not get excited about who you vote for..

Everyone seems to be a 'Christian' when they run for office.
I look fairly closely at their past behavior when deciding on who I'll support.
I have my standard short list as a jump off point - abortion (bad), tax increases (bad), cheating on your wife / husband (bad), any double standards (bad), etc.
A nice smile and suit make no difference. Claiming Christ as Savior isn't as important to me as how you behave, at least with respect to a Presidential candidate.

while you're refering to Romney, then in all likelihood, despite the fact that Huckabee is my first p.c... as properly, what proportion applicants say they're Christians and then walk a distinctive walk? some applicants sell gay marriage, are professional-selection and dont prefer morals being taught in our faculties or have any area of any faith in our faculties. yet while its campaign time, they like to tell you the way stable a Christian they're. Wow, I dont think of this is what Jesus had in strategies.

Yes. Religion doesn't matter when choosing a candidate.
