I'm the champion of this, man. Mr. Pragmatism here, at your service. I have been joined or been baptized into three religions (mormon, christian, buddhist) and five christian denominations (SDA, baptist, prebyterian, methodist, catholic) because either 1) my mom wanted me to, 2) my good friend wanted me to, or 3) there was this really cute girl...

Its a very practical way to make people happy. I mean, if I have no Gods of my own, then why not just pretend to adopt other peoples' Gods? I do tell everyone the real reason I'm getting "dunked", but most religious people just don't care- They'll baptize anyone!

I don't think religious beliefs matter, and I also think that if you don't think a person's religion matters, then put your money where your mouth is, so to speak. So, I have done just that many times.

The Omen, the entire Nightmare on Elm Street's, Exorcist, Poltergeist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday The thirteenth, The Shinning, Stephens King's IT, Psycho, The Grudge, Halloween, Saw, Childs Play, Jeepers Creepers, The Blair Witch Project, The Amityville & The Ring.

Funny story - when I was 10 my best friend took me to a church service for kids one night and we were all singing and having a really fun time and then the Pastor made an "altar call", and my friend looked at me and said "Do you wanna go up?" and I was like yes ok!

I was raised Lutheran and we don't quite get that ...ummm...wound up so of course I had no idea what it was about ! There was my best friend and she took my hand and up we went!

Anyway they took us backstage and my friend had already been saved so she did not go.....lol...I was terrified when they told me I should pray out loud and ask Jesus to come into my heart!!!!! I thought surely I'd go to hell for this!

Somehow I got out of it and the rest of the night was ruined for me.....I felt that I had disappointed my friend! LOL anyway, I'm a better Lutheran than Baptist I guess!

Peace!

I have studied different religions so I could understand the various doctrine, etc. However, I have only ever personally joined one congregation to date. Should I move, I'd be forced to find another church...not another religion.

No. And especially never because of a movie star. It's bad enough politicians actually give them audience and serious consideration in matters the actors know nothing about.

Yes, I joined the Psychic Friends Network because of my schoolboy crush on Dionne Warwick.

Not a movie star, but George Harrison certainly influenced my involvement with ISKCON. I didn't choose my faith because of him, but sometimes prominent personalities can open your mind to something you may not've discovered otherwise, and for that I thank George.

well yes. i had this beloved friend named Patrick who was into this guru cult. i just wanted to hang out with him and he with me so i joined the cult too. i never really believed in the divinity of the fat little guru but i just loved Patrick so much it was worth the silliness of being a member the cult. then the guru told all his foreign followers to go back to their respective countries and Patrick did as he was told and went home to France. i never saw him again **sigh**. without Patrick there was no point in the cult for me anymore so i quit.

funny thing tho. it's been decades since i last hugged Patrick and yet ... i still miss him.

I was baptized because of a cute blonde diver and closeness to her family.

I didn't realize the gift I had until August of last year.

No, but I bet Tom Cruise has turned a bunch of people off of Scientology. Which is, of course, a good thing.
