You say that because there are trees, computers, whatever, then that proves there is a god.

Explain that one. I want to hear the whole line of thinking.

I'm interested to hear from people who were made to worship against their will when they were children or teens.
If so, how did you parents get you to comply? What are your thoughts about it now? Do you still practice the same religion or have your beliefs changed?

Anyone remember this 'prophecy' from the Damien movies?

When the Jews return to Zion
And a comet fills the sky
And the Holy Roman Empire rises
Then You and I must die.
From the eternal sea he rises,
Creating armies on either shore,
Turning man against his brother
'Til man exists no more.

Does this prophecy really exist in the bible? How much it has actually happened? Is any part of it true?

Why can't Catholic priests marry? I was told it is because of purity issues, but what was the original reason? It became a rule during the Nicene Convention, but why exactly did they do this? Any feedback would be welcome.

Ok, I know every time somebody puts Christians only all the atheists have to make a comment but this question isn't about atheism or anything like that. I just want advice from fellow Christians. So, do you teach your kids about Santa Clause? I don't have kids yet but I will soon and I'm confused on this one. I'm concerned I'll feel like I'm lying to them if I do. Also, shouldn't Christmas be more about Christ than anything else, or is it possible to still include Santa and have Christ as the center of it all? Also, I don't remember when I found out Santa wasn't real but do children feel deceived when they learn this?

If you believe that then answer this,
Why would God create humans if he knew he would have to drown all of them except Noah and his family? Why not create Noah and his family in the first place? Are you Christians aware that in your "great flood" there were MANY innocent children and babies who drowned? What kind of loving God is that? Don't give me that crap about, "well the innocent babies and children went to Heaven so it all works out" NO it does not! They still had to drown, painfully.
I know this is not really a question but more of a statement but I don't care.
Here is the real question...........
Why create the beginning when you can simply create the end? Why do SOOOO many need to suffer in order for him to see that which he already knows he will see?

Why do people make a big deal if you date outside of your religon? Why do people get made if you date outside of your social circle? Who can I date when I am a Christian? Why can I only date when I am dating for marriage?

This is how I see it. While I respect that a person's beliefs are sincerely held, I don't have to respect what they believe. To do otherwise would require me to say that it was wrong to fight WW2 as the Nazis believed that Jews were less than human.

Just because a person is a human being I have to respect them, but to say I have to respect what they believe seems outrageous.
I'm sure Jeffery Dahmer, Ted Bundy, John Kuhey, Hitler, and Andrea Yates would love it if we as a society respected what they believe.
I heard a news blurb the other day about Richard Dawkins book being banned in Turkey, no great loss to him as it had only sold 6000 copies there. This inspired some research and I found that this ban is based on the law that says his book is insulting to Islam. Also, found that it is against the law to "insult Turkishness".
Keep these things in mind when next asked to consider laws against "hate speech" and "hate crimes". They really are the same thing.
BTW I don't like Dawkins.

Although there are some that refuse to believe or accept it, there are some who do acknowledge that Christianity has many beliefs and practices with pagan origins. For those that DO acknowledge this, does it affect your faith in any way? Does it affect the way you practice your faith?

I ask because I just discovered from another question that there are some Christians who do not worship on Sunday, but rather on Saturday. Origins being that Constantine made Sunday the official day of worship for Christians (who judging my his history, had some pretty confusing and conflicting beliefs).

You know how Mormons believe that God will not forgive murder? This joke reminds me of the Mormon God:

This little boy went to Jesus to confess his sins.
"Jesus I tod a lie."
"Don't worry my son, I can forgive that."
Then the boy came back the next day
"Jesus I stole something."
"Don't worry my son I can forgive that too."
Then the boy came back the next day
"Jesus I've been doing drugs."
"Don't worry my son I can forgive that too."
Then the boy came back the next day
"Jesus I've been having sex"
"Don't worry my son I can forgive that too."
Then finally the boy came back the next day
"Jesus I killed my sister."
Jesus said, "Okay my son, now you need a spanking."

LOL! It just remeinds me of the Mormon doctrine on murder.

*Twas the month before Christmas*
*When all through our land,*
*Not a Christian was praying*
*Nor taking a stand.*
*See the PC Police had taken away,*
*The reason for Christmas - no one could say.*
*The children were told by their schools not to sing,*
*About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.*
*It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say*
* December 25th is just a " Holiday ".*

*Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit*
*Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!*
*CDs from Madonna, an X-BOX, an I-pod*
*Something was changing, something quite odd! *
*Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa*
*In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.*
*As Targets were hanging their trees upside down*
* At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.*
*At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears*
*You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.*

*Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty*
*Are words that were used to intimidate me.*
*Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen*
*On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !*
*At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter*
*To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.*
*And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith*
; * Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace*

*The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded*
*The reason for the season, stopped before it started.*
*So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree"*
*Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.*
*Choose your words carefully, choose what you say*

*Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS ,

not Happy Holiday!*
