The 'love' of humanity bears no relationship to the love from God. An example is given in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8; ' ...love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails ...'

Awesome question! One perception of a fool is another's perception of a wise person. Psalms says that fools do not believe in god. This is said to make people to believe in god so as not to be perceived as foolish. Falling in love is foolish because it makes one look silly and love, being an emotion is inherently irrational. Saying that god is love to me means that having compassion for others is the greatest form of spirituality.
My conclusion is that foolishness, love and god are all irrational concepts but we can't always do what makes the most sense.

Because if that fool does not believe in God, he falls in love with the wrong thing or person.

'Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers' said it better:
Why do birds sing so gay
And lovers await the break of day?
Why do they fall in love?
Why does the rain fall from up above?
Why do fools fall in love?
Why do they fall in love?
Hmmmm - maybe God believes in fools even if fools don't believe in God?
Only a fool would generalize about atheists, though.

That is mans saying not God's saying for one, about fools falling in love. And it only pertains to those who do not believe. If indeed that fool falls in love with GOD that makes him no longer the idiotic fool he once was and makes him one of the most intelligent beings to walk the earth.

Unfortunately, the English language only has one word for "love". However, there's more than one kind of love. The Greeks had at least three words for love.....agape and filial, and eros. God's love is "agape"....unconditional: his love never changes no matter how we react or respond. Love for our children, parents, siblings, friends is filial....based on familiarity, somewhat conditional depending on how they treat us, varies in depth according to how "close" we are to that person. Eros is sexual "love". While God is the author of "love" in all its forms, only "agape" describes his love. Fools don't believe in God, and they are limited to filial and eros. Only someone who has God's Holy Spirit dwelling in him/her is capable of agape.
