The KJV is know in the US as the King James Version, but it is known in the UK as the "Authorized Version" of the bible. In the 1600's it lieterally took King James Authorization to translate the Bible from Greek, publish and distribute it. King James did not actually write or translate the KJV version, he just made it possible.
Unfortunately, Christian people don't always do Christian things. It's quite possible that KJ wanted to boost his ego a bit and have Holy recognition, but to know a persons True thoughts and motives are sometimes impossible. I'm sure it wasn't uncommon though for a King to threaten lives to get their way.
If you know what you wrote, you probably know a whole lot more that makes the Christian faith look really bad, just keep in mind that Paul gave warning to men to 'follow the word and be an examble because people will judge Christianity on you sometimes instead of the word itself'.
As far as I know, no changes were made to the KJV Bible, other than leaving out random notes and thoughts in the margins that earler collections had from various people (not the original author). And, go figure, the King and the Bishop made sure the Church of England was ensured their position in the translation.
The Bible is the Word and the Way, its just too bad that not all of its followers are great examples of its teachings.
On a side note, I don't know where your at with Faith, but the New Testament is something for sure to read for yourself instead of letting anyone else read/intrepret it for you. They call it the "Living Word" for a reason.
Peace

The "King James Only" and "KJV inspired and inerrant" beliefs are held only by a small minority of Christians, but they are very vocal and active.
It's difficult for anyone who has read into the history of the bible in English to hold either view.
(unless they were only polemical sites by adherents of the above)
I have once been told to my face that anyone who didn' t use the KJV "wasn't a true Christian", so these positions are real, for some.

it is wrong to think that the KJV was changed. You can go back and compare the KJV with manuscripts that were writen 1000 years before King James and find that the KJV is accurate to them. So why would you think it was changed?

Do not waste time doubting that you can find spiritual truth in it. These truths are timeless and are in there.

They're idiots. Their parents or pastors tell them is true so they believe in it.
