Peilthetraveler: I have no idea where you got such an ignorant statement from. Open minded people tend to believe that you should open your mind so that you can follow the path that is right for you, and allow others to follow the path that is right for them without being harassed. Closed minded people think they have the only truth, and that everyone else has to agree with them.

its social. it is the lack of knowledge. the lack of understanding. it is a terrible problem in our society. we cannot accept others for who they are. we need to. as Americans we need to stick together instead of always fighting and hating each other. people go out hating and they dont even know what it is that they are hating. just something they were told to do and thought was offensive. they dont even bother to know. people hate me because I'm wiccan. they think that I am evil and satanic. they dony even realize that wicca has nothing to do with satan and is a peaceful religion. It is not genetic, but pushed onto the child from a careless parent.

I recommend that the top shrink for contributions be performed away with, and that the optimal payouts in retirement nonetheless stay as they're, adjusted for inflation. Social protection isn't a "supply away" application yet one that all of us make contributions to love a low fee rates plan, and could be shielded from different makes use of by utilising the government. Do you compromise or disagree and why? while you're so fearful approximately it then why do not you; first placed it back into the interior maximum sector and make to have been no can take out funds from it for his or her own activity, 2nd pay back each penny you have borrowed from the two Social protection and Medicare, third take the unlawful immigrants off of it and people who come over right here yet never paid a penny to it, and ultimately have it the comparable for each guy or woman; in different words government officers are to take part in it and in the event that they like something greater they do it on their own with out the tax payers investment it?yet, the financial stytem feeding the imbalances had never been relatively replaced. They, a team of scholars, reported that all and sundry expenditures of activity may well be 3% or much less for each guy or woman to grow to be prosperous if needed (which would be actual additionally to taces). the terrific financial difficulty may well be, they reported, while there have been no expenditures of activity. Why not try this answer? the prosperous might nonetheless be prosperous. My question is: while soial protection turns right into a topic linked to federal charges, why not artwork with a balanced or earnings budget and spend no greater effective than is offered in, as any kinfolk has to attempt for? Why not ban all loobying presents with the intention to get regulations that serve the country? God bless usa.

I think it may be a social disease. I think we are very influenced by what happens to us and is around us from birth to age 5. If ones parents are closed-minded, then the person would have to work hard to overcome that. Then, there are those who are not secure as people and must look to a group for validation. They may adopt whatever the group thinks or believes just to fit in.

I'm with gnostic in this, because in my opinion closed mindedness can be a personal ( unconscious) behavioral choice...for whatever reason.Of course it can also be a learned attitude. Those who raised me were conservative and/or close minded in many ways, and I never echoed their attitudes because they did not seem fair to me. I believe we are all entitled to our opinions up to the point that they interfere with or harm another. Then its time for us to shut up, or as some say "live and let live" I can't see where another person or group being lawfully granted their life, liberty, and happiness detracts from the rights I'm entitled to. And I don't think in terms of someone disagreeing with me as being "wrong," or my beliefs being the only "real" facts. We just have different opinions.

I think its a bit of both. Humans are hard-wired to understand things from their own point of view. Genetically, we accept the things that we have come to understand... our brains genetically require experience with/comprehension of different things in order to accept and integrate the great variety of things on offer.
That said, society also breeds closed-mindedness simply because parental units (such as myself) have limited knowledge, and this is then passed on to our children. They teach their children to fear the unknown, rather than to explore it and come to understand it.
Definitely closed-mindedness is a social disease that plays upon our genetic limitations in Extra Sensory Perception. I mean, if we had the genetic ability to comprehend all things simultaneously, via a universal consciousness, then we wouldn't have the problem of closed-mindedness.

Are you open minded to the systematic murder of an entire race? Close mindedness can be a good thing (depending on the topic). What I find interesting that you're closed minded to closed mindedness - and resort to insults and namecalling rather than understanding.
Give a specific example, then we can have better discourse.

It's a learned thing. Parents or others you're around as a child.
But when you're older, you make the choice if it's right or not.
I was raised by someone with a narrow mind, who judged others quickly. She had a closed mind to certain things.
That limited her to experiencing different things in life.
As an adult, I've learned not to fear the things I use to. No to judge others, and to experience life. (**)

Open minded people are just as closed minded as the rest of us. They go around saying Free your mind and believe what we believe. Just like religions say "believe what we believe" so do the so called open minded people say that
