If so how do they read it? Do they just do a little at a time from beginning to end and then start over? Or do they read specific verses over and over again? Perhaps some other way?

I'm very glad that I was informed that my life is incomplete and I long for a god. And only the god of the person who told me this is real, according to them.

Wasn't it nice that they were willing to spare me the effort of actually taking a look at my own feelings by telling me what to feel?

Imagine if my parents used to tell me when I was hungry, rather than listening to me. They'd have been able to save a lot of money by giving me a bowl of gruel per day! Or if they could tell me who I love! Then I would never have had to go on a date!

I think religion can be a terrible thing. Most people just use it to oppress and control others. What are your views of it?

EDIT: I am a Christian but I believe that it’s more about having a personal relationship with God. Heck, Jesus himself was killed by the religious people of his day.

Are we destined to go the way of the dinosaur? The dinosaur species ruled the Earth millions of years ago, and it looks like someone gave up on them. How do we know that God still has faith in us? They say that you can feel it in your heart, but all I feel in mine is that we're alone and no one really cares about us.

and...if you think about it, we are the most vile and corrupt life form on this planet. imagine that.

isn't complimentary to their beliefs? The fact that most of the questions getting reported are completely factual, and honest doesn't appear to make a difference to the report happy trolls. Are they incapable of giving a real answer? Are they too insecure to handle having their beliefs questioned? What do you think?

I was 13....but didn't realize that I had to make Him LORD over my life until I was 19. It was then (2 years ago) when I was 19 that I laid myself aside and allowed Him to take over me.

Well ... think about it. As human beings, we have complex physical and emotional needs. All these needs have a corresponding fulfillment. You might say that experience has proved to us that if we NEED something, fulfillment of that need exists somewhere, somehow.

For example, our bodies need nourishment to survive, which proves the existence of food and water.

We need oxygen to breathe, which proves the existance of air.

We need light and warmth, which proves the sun exists.

We desire to procreate, which proves the existence of sex.

We get lonely simply because friendship and community exists.

But even with all these physical and emotional needs satisfied, we STILL feel unfulfilled. Why? Because we have a deeper spiritual need -- a need for God.

And THAT my friend, proves the existence of a Creator.

A change in thought, a change in being...turn your spirit out instead of in...appreciate the chaos and imensity of the universe, and the amazing sequence of events that have brought us all to this second. The birth of stars, the collection of molecules, the millions of sperms that competed that could have been you, the millionbillion things that HAD to happen for you to exist.

your own beliefs would stay true, but you would see the goodness in everyone else, and that we are all just beautiful shiny pockets of energy, no different from each other?

we are only alive for a fleeting time, let's share this moment

it seems to me that the root of most problems in the world stems from religion (nearly all religion).i'm from the northern ireland and was brought up in a church going family(protestant). now we fought for years over here basically neighbour against neighbour under the guise of loyalist against nationalist but it was really protestant against catholic. we fight all over the world because our neighbours are a different religion from ourselves. this is all religions so i'm not singling anyone out.i've lost all faith to be honest in any kind of supernatural god as if we're honest i now beleve it was just a device to try and control people.
also having read quite a bit of the bible (i am using the bible for example as its what i was brought up with but i'm almost sure most holy books are the same)and if it is the word of god then there are some quite sexist and spiteful things in it.
whats happened to me?

When I was a teen and until I was married to my ex actually, my friends and family always called me Butterfly. It was a sudden thing, actually, and I couldn't figure out why. I was probably 15 when this started. I'm 24 now. When I was 17 I was allowed to get a tattoo of a butterfly on my left upper arm. I wasn't the religion I am now, but I still have it.

What is the symbolism behind it and possible reasons they nicknamed me that? I wasn't extremely social, I was pretty quiet. I wasn't running around and stuff, I was pretty much a quiet person who spoke her mind. Any ideas?

Why is love supposed to be between just one man and one woman? If I love Jane and also love betty, how does that affect my love for Jane?

Why do christians promote the lie that you cannot love more than one person. If you do, you are made to feel guilty and somehow dirty for expressing a pure emotion. I just dont get it
