Satan was cast out of heaven because in him iniquity was born.
He caught a glimpse of his own beauty and in that moment thought he could be more than God and in that moment iniquity was born.
Now he is jealous of mans relationship with God as he once had this before he was cast down - hence spiritual warfare.
Lucifer was created perfect in all his ways, but iniquity was found in him. It was not put there by God. Lucifer created it.
( this is found in Ezekiel 28:15 )
Like man, the angels were created perfect, and with a free will.
Satan was lifted up because of his beauty, he corrupted the wisdom by reason of his brightness (This is in Ezekiel 28:17)

Not answering your question, but as you should know from the Qu'ran, Satan or as Islam calls him the Iblis was never an angel. Allah (God) first created the Iblis out of fire. The Iblis was told to serve Adam. The Iblis disobeyed saying he was better than man who had neen created from the ground.
Depending on views there are some places where it is suggested in the Bible that angels do not have free will, therefore do not commit sins or wrongs. But it is said too that when Lucifer rebelled he took 1/3 of the angels with him.
The Qu'ran does offer an interesting view of the Iblis never being an angel and if angels do not have free will, it would not upset that Satan was a fallen angel. In Spain you can find a Qu'ran along side a Bible in nearly every home. Christian, Jew, muslim (muslim intentionally not capitalized because of my familiarity. Islam is capitalized as it is the religion, muslim is not because it is merely the practioner of the religion.) We can all learn a lot about our own religions by studying the others. Don't be afraid of looking. There is added information in each that supplements the other. Well worth reading. I've read Hindi and Buddhist holy books but my Occidental brain does not really comprehend Oriental thought.

Satan was originally an angel, but he decided he wanted to be like God, or rather that he wanted to rule instead of God. He was reported as being the most beautiful of angels on the masculine side of courese, as all angels have no specific gender. God gave him powers, not to acceed His own, and provided him with Hell. He gave satan the ability to try and get people to turn from the Supreme Being in a magnitude of ways. I believe you need to read Isaiah in order to get the information you are seeking.

It would be in Revelation. It talks about "and I saw him fall as a star to the earth." Or something along those lines.
Anyway, Lucifer used to be one of the highest ranking angels in heaven, possibly a second arch angel. He became aware of how "great" he was and began to believe his greatness came of his own self rather than from God. This was the sin of pride, and sin of any type cannot be allowed into heaven. That is why he was kicked out.

Revelation 12:7-10.....And war broke out in heaven: Mi′chael and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled  but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven.  So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.  And I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
“Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down, who accuses them day and night before our God!
why...... because God had to prepare the heavens for his kingdom.....His will be done on earth as it was done in heaven......His next project is ridding the earth of all badness.

I'll answer this in a trouble saving way and attach a link to someone else's answer to this question. The basic reason is that he rebelled against the Almighty because of his supreme pride. http://minuteswithmessiah.tripod.com/question/castout.html
