crucifix? Thats just horrible. You can get a crucifix anywhere, so why destroy something thats a part of your family heritage?

Its just so.... intensely wrong.

And its not even the fact that its a crucifix, its the destroying of a family heirloom. I mean, my mother has a family bible thats been passed down through the generations. Its an heirloom. I think the bible is crap, but I'd never destroy it because its part of my family history.

I once accidentally broke a 300 year old lamp that belonged to my family for all those centuries accidentally, and I felt so bad when I did it that I started to cry. Not because the lamp actually meant anything, I mean... its just a piece of glass. But it was a family heirloom. Important just because its a part of my family heritage.

I mean... thats just horrible to voluntarily destroy something to make it into something else.

the Lord Jesus said it Himself when the pharisees were boasting that they were descendants of Abraham, that he was their father.

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

now, are we all on the same page?

In 1st John 1:9 it says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness , King James Version, why when you say that pray for him to forgive your sins but why do you still feel guilt

I just asked a question about who is the Lord of Lords. The consensus by JW's is that the title refers to Jesus. So could you explain to me this verse that says Jehovah is the Lord of Lords. If you believe Jesus is the Lord of Lords and this verse says it is Jehovah doesn't that make Jesus Jehovah?

Deuteronomy 10:17 For Jehovah your God, He is the God of gods, and the Lord of lords; the great, the mighty, the fearful God who does not lift up faces, nor take a bribe.

Welcome to my world! I m not any one so u can do ur move & get away with it, I m the special one, I m not ordinary I m Mr. Extra ordinary. Is it when you first have those feelings? Is it if you hold hands, or embrace? Is it when you hug? Kiss? At what point does a feeling of affection become a *wrong* thing?

FWIW I am straight and I don't believe that any loving God would have any problem with any acts of love, Gay or otherwise.

I just found out that the peckerwood who presided at my motherinlaw's gravesite service charged $200.00. What a scam. I'm ashamed and disgusted.

What I mean is, if rudimentary hind limbs appear briefly in the embryos of whales and dolphins, doesn't that just mean that God is considering whether they should have legs?

Why should this simple fact of embryology be twisted around to serve as fodder for atheistic polemics?

If God is considering whether whales should have legs, that's his business. Leave it alone. Are all you church folks with me on this one?

The problem with religion is that we give it a weird kind of respect, which uniquely protects it from normal criticism.

We use normal criticism against folk tales, alien sightings, magic, sexism, racism, drug use, cannibalism, etc.

If we could rid ourselves of this Respect (which rational people inherited from early scientists. This respect was first acquired by fear of death and torture, due to the inquisitive nature of organised religions), how would we analyse religious beliefs?

Religion passes no rational, logical, nor scientific methods of argumentation.

Would it be defendable if only a handful of people believed in religion?

to what degree do you think it is either possible or probable that people approach Jesus without seeing Him as a means to an end?

Mine is the teleological fallacy.

Basically it usually goes something like this:

"Look at all the beauty and wonder of the world around you. If there isn't a God, how could all this beauty have come into being? Therefore there MUST be a God! How can you not see it, are you blind or just stupid?!?"

What's your favorite Christian logical fallacy?

I'm in a rough spot right now, I'm starting to open up about my BDSM tendencies and am in BDSM support groups to help me cope with them. It's very hard for me because the Church does not seem to have an official stance on BDSM and the many priests I have talked to don't even know what it is.

I would very much like to remain Catholic but don't know if the 2 worlds can co-exist. It's very hard because BDSM is still way to taboo and nobody really knows or wants to talk about it in the open. By the way, it's not as uncommon as most people think.

Is there any sources or info that i could go to to find other Catholics involved in the BDSM world or find anything on what the Church has to say about it?

Why do they knock on your door and hand out leaflets? I don't know of any other religion that does this!

Are you polite when they come to your home? I am but they are trying to get me into bible studies which i am not interested in, how do i tell them nicely?

They have been calling at my house for about two years and not once in this time have i let them in, or led them to believe i was going to join. What do i do?
