I used to believe in the example you gave in your question, even though I'm not a Christian.
It may be much more easier to disprove "theism" as opposed to "deism".
My favorite apologetic I hear from some Christians is something like "it's written in the Bible, therefore it must be true." This is like saying that by looking through a phone book and come across someone named Clark Kent, that this automatically proves the existence of Superman.

How about Israel becoming a nation in 1948? It did not exist for 1878 years. It was wiped off the face of the map in 70 a.d. The Bible predicted that God would restore Israel. For many years people laughed-but look, Israel is there. Is that a fallacy?

Gee, there are so many. I love it when some use stories like the story of Job or they go into telling me how could I jesus died for my sins. So I would say my favorite Christian logical fallacy is when they use the guilt stories in the bible.

OK there are several for me and I will try to keep them short as possible.
First one is the omnipotence paradox, after all if god is all-powerful then he should be able to perform this task.
Second one is the flaw of god being all-knowing. If god knows all it means just that, he knows everything even before it happens; so why would god test people's faith if he knows the outcome in advance? I've gotten many cop-out answers to this question such as it is a test for us not him.
Third one is god being all-loving if god is all-loving then why would he allow bad things to happen to people? If god is all-powerful, all-knowing and all-loving then he should be able to prevent bad things from happening. Since he can not is it because he does not want to? If so then he is not all-loving. If he can not do so then he is not all-powerful. If he did not know it will happen then he is not all-knowing.
I hope that you understand my attempt at pointing out the flaws in the concept of god.

"The universe had to be created by some force. It couldn't happen all by itself. And that force is god".
But then, following that logic" god couldn't have happened all by itself. What created that god?".
