Why do they always say "Brethren" which is pertaining to men. Why not occasionally use the word "sistren" which is pertaining to women. It strengthens my views that the bible was written by men with men in mind.

I just answered a question about how evolutionists are unable to prove evolution.

http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlnXsBD6twhXjdtXJfWt210FEBV.;_ylv=3?qid=20071121035740AAz5v8W

I just thought it fair that the creationists get to prove their side as well. And please, no "The bible says it, so it's true" answers. If you can't intelligently debate the question, please go post you page long biblical quotes at someone else.

So, the question is, can you supply corroboration of the biblical story of creation. That means something that supports the story from a source other than the story. And I'm not asking you to disprove evolution, just supply corroborative evidence of creation. Thank you for indulging me. :)

It's hard to believe in a day and age when we can call a friend from across the world that people still think the Holy Ghost is such a myth. In the last hundred years we have changed the entire history of mankind. We put our faith in cars going 60 MPH, airplanes that take us above the clouds, and over bridges that can sustain the weight of 1000s of tons.

Faith in our day and age is abundante. And the result of faith in these things has had voilent endings enought times to convince us that we are never 100 percent safe.

Every one has faith.

I have heard Christians say "If someone turns away they were never truly saved"

I have heard Atheists propose "If someone went from being "Atheist" to Theist, they were never truly Atheist"

I personaly think they're equally ridiculous claims, but I would just like to ask.

Why is it more always more believable that people turned away from other views than your own?
Is this exclusive to Atheists/Christians? or something much more apparent in all beliefs/non-beliefs?

in business, i was very successful (owner operator) because i rapidly see the logical extension of various areas my contracts would need to address. this is not typical of contractors i come in contact with. they see the general picture but my vision is details like enviromental issues like the change will make flooding a problem on the property. (something typically that does not manifest for months to years after the work is done.)

many here claim to be well educated and that gives you a distinct edge with better skills to compete.

question, does your education/experience/knowledge directly benefit you in all areas of your livelyhood. does any of your skills boarder almost on some kind of spiritual discernment to overcome difficulties in your work. the idea of a tap of genius, if you will.

There is the big up roar over the Golden Comapss and His Dark Material trilogy. The Religious community says it is basically evil and it kills God. I will tell you right now I never even heard of these books till the bad press about it hit the news. So Yes I bought them and I am enjoying them.

I believe in God and I know this book will not change my view on that. Have people not learned anything? Da Vinci Code? The book was poorly written, the plot was obvious, the characters were flat and lifeless, But it sold millions of copies.
Why? I would have to say the uproar from the Catholic Church.

Its not just books. I mean I could bring up Harry Potter as well. But let's look at movies. The Exorcist. The Church hated this movie. Yet it is one of the top favorite movies still today. Yes its scary but the effects are not that good. When it came out the church protested it. The sales JUMPED!
So if I write a book I'd like bad religious press.
Do you think it sells more books?

What things do you dislike about your church or churches you attended frequently in the past but recently left? What denominations were these churches of? What could the pastor have done to fix these problems? What could you have done to fix these problems? Lastly, what do you consider a "dead" church and who do you consider largely responsible for the death of this church?

Please be specific.

Many christians misinterperet islams holy scriptures and make up things to claim that Islam preaches terrorism. Well, lets take a deep look in their scriptures!
Let me mention just a few verses from the Old Testament and New Testament and tell me what do you say about them:

“When the LORD your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and stronger than you. And when the LORD your God delivers them before you and you defeat them, then you shall utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them and show no favor to them. (Deutronomy 7:1-2)

“When you approach a city to fight against it, you shall offer it terms of peace. If it agrees to make peace with you and opens to you, then all the people who are found in it shall become your forced labor and shall serve you. However, if it does not make peace with you, but makes war against you, then you shall besiege it. When the LORD your God gives it into your hand, you shall strike all the men in it with the edge of the sword. Only the women and the children and the animals and all that is in the city, all its spoil, you shall take as booty for yourself; and you shall use the spoil of your enemies which the LORD your God has given you… Only in the cities of these peoples that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, you shall not leave alive anything that breathes (Deuteronomy 20:10-17)

Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man intimately. But all the girls who have not known man intimately, spare for yourselves. (Numbers 31:17-18)

Even in the New Testament we read the following statements attributed to Jesus saying to his disciples:

“I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence. (Luke 19:26-27)

"Do not think that I have come to send peace on earth. I did not come to send peace, but a sword. I am sent to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law" (Matthew 10:34-35)

Muslims believe in all Prophets sent by Allah, and so do not misuse or misinterpret the religious texts of other faiths in order to defame them. Even in recent times, Muslims have and are facing genocidal campaigns in Bosnia, Kosova, Chechnia, Kashmir, and Palestine - but they have not questioned Judaism and Christianity. Such spirit needs to be reciprocated.

Well I’m actually Muslim not Christian. I grew up in the great land down under and obviously there is freedom down here to ask religious question unlike some placed on earth! Anyways, I like religion as a whole in SOME ways but I have allot of questions about other religions and my own (because i want to get to the absolute truth about god? Is there a god? How did we get here? Etc). So I thought ill start off with the most famous one that Christian tell me jesus is god. thankyou.

I have decided to devote my life to God and become muslim. I have little to no support from my family, and some of them are actually against it. Some of them are with the idea muslims don't belive in God, which goes against the meaning of muslim itself(one who submits to God). Anyway there are not any muslims for miles from where I live and its very hard to learn the right ways. What can I do?
