What do you guys think about him? Could it be a gift from God? Just the result of mastering body and mind? Could his works be a deceit from the devil? I have no bias on this question and am open to all opinions.

Here is one of the links that triggered my curiosity

The theory of evolution explains why and how the virus mutates to develop a resistance to drugs. When we find a cure for AIDS it will be in part due to evolutionary biology. What are you going to say then?

my 1st question is this:

even if ppl dont believe in God, does he still love them and watch over them?

my second question is this:
i am an orthodox christian and i wear a cross and i pray sometimes. but only if i am in deep trouble or if (God forbid) someone i love is in danger. is this bad? does this mean i will go to hell? i mean like im a good person, i dont drink or smoke, or do drugs, and i believe in abstinence. but i dont pray every day, and i guess you could say i pray for only selfish reasons. will God punish me? but the thing is that i cuss and stuff. will God punish me for that, too?

thanks!
please dont be mean or criticise!

Obvious contradiction, but what's the explanation for it?

"And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them." (Exodus 6:3.)

Genesis 22:14, "And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen."

If religion was invented to control people I'd have to ask-Control them from what? How are they being controlled and for what reason? This line of thinking degrades ALL religions, not just Christianity. Just because a person believes in God, what kind of control is he/she under? What control is a Christian under that an Atheist isn't under? If the powers that be said "let's control these people using religion" 1.Who are the powers that be? 2.How did religion control them-what could or couldn't they do because of religion? Paying taxes and going to war is nothing new. Religious and non religious have done these things forever. There are rich and poor church's just like there are rich and poor people. I can't see where $$ is the reason. If religion is used to control people into keeping laws such as: not to murder, not to steal, not to lie, etc. I don't see a problem. What is wrong with keeping such laws? If religion is a control device, what does it control?

Theists: If you found out your child's teacher was an atheist, would you pull your child out of that class/school so that they wouldn't be influenced by them?

The CIA (Corruption In America) is responsible for trafficking illegal drugs into inner cities like South Los Angeles. California Congresswoman Maxine Waters took trips to drug infested countries like Nicaragua to see what the CIA is doing to fight drug trafficking into the US, nothing at all. 'There is no war on drugs going on in America today', she said. She is now doing everything she can to fight drug trafficking into South LA. Actually, Barry Seal (largest drug dealer in American history, and CIA agent) admitted to US judges that he had flown tens of thousands of pounds of illegal drugs into the US for the government. No wonder the CIA had him assassinated. He even explained how he did it. Seal owned several farms in Louisiana. He would fly guns and ammo down to Columbia and then bring drugs back into the US. He would fly over his farms and drop the cocaine-filled duffle bags with parachutes onto his property. Busted. Why did our government lie about the 'war on drugs'?

Seriously, there is loads of religions out there how can one person be sure theirs is the right one? I mean no one lived way back then so how can anyone know for sure? Is a six armed god any whackier then someone rising from the dead? How can people be so sure that the bible and other religous readings aren't just works of fiction by a creative mind? Personally, I don't believe in any one religion...I have a good heart and live a good life and when I die what happens to me happens. If "god" rejects good people because they didn't worship him their entire lives, do we really wanna spend eternity with some holy dictator anyway?

Maybe I am missing something, but for the life of me I do not understand why Christians think that Isaiah 53 is messianic.

First off I simply do not see the author saying that this chapter is talking about the messiah. The author has no hesitation in chapter 11 to say that this is what the messiah will do so why not in 53?

Second, the entire chapter is set in the past tense. He did suffer, he was broken, ect. Again comparing it to chapter 11 as well 42 (which are talking about the future) this is strange. How can you have a prophecy when you are talking about history?

Those are just two problems I have with this understanding, can anyone clarify?

Can you please tell me about why you think He exists? Any proof? (Please don't say "it's what I believe so He exists in my faith" or something like that) People keep on saying "there's proof He exists," but they just ironically stop at that and doesn't state the proof. Well, I'm asking this question to know that.

I've been a Christian for 13 years, and am so happy. Recently, some Jehovah's witnesses have been coming to my door and asking if they can talk to me. I let them set a time to come. I don't have a problem with learning what they believe. I think it's interesting to hear what different religions consist of. I'm even taking a college course on it right now. I have no interest in converting though, and the friends I've mentioned to that these ppl are coming to my house just say, "Good Luck!" I'm getting nervous now! I'm okay with talking to them, but I dont' want them persisting on me converting. I'm just afraid they're going to MAKE me... ha ha... what can I expect?

He keeps trying to convince me the Earth's only 6,000 years old and the Bible is literal truth. NOTHING I say seems to work when he debates me. "Fossil's can't be that old. Radiocarbon dating doesn't really work. It's a lie" "Everything worked with Noah's Arc because it's a miricle" "It's perfectly logical that the population of the Earth grew from Noah's family to bilions across the globe in a few thousand years because God just created extra people. That's also why we're not ll inbred. Because God just created more people all over the globe after the flood."

It goes on and on like that all night. Does anyone have an argument that will at least shut him up?

All too often as I trawl through questions on religion, do I see anti-Christian and, I'm afraid to say, anti-Atheist remarks. It seems fruitless if both sides uselessly hammer away at each other, furthering their animosity when, in fact, the time could be spent more wisely in intelligent conversation with sympathy for the other side's beliefs. Can this be achieved or are both factions too paranoid?
