You shouldn't be answering if the only atheists you know are faceless internet people.

Snoopy, this is in response to someone else's question, and you take everything waayyy too seriously, buddy. It's okay, though, someone has always got to be the jerk to ruin everyone's fun.

Hey! J h, I was nice on the other question! And if you take a look at some of the Christian answers on here, they're not so nice, either...

Mary Redshirt---great answer. I agree, and it's cowardice. However, a lot of us wouldn't mind meeting up and talking over coffee. I doubt we'd be as cut throat then, though. Internet anonymity can really bring out the worst in some.

I love a few of the most recent posts. I really love people who represent themselves well enough to gain respect for not only themselves, but their beliefs. So thank you for that, to those of you who were genuine. And thank you to atheists who represent themselves well, too--you guys ROCK.
Aw...I'm getting all mushy now....

I'm not really a church-goer, but I was raised Catholic so I am ostensibly a Christian. What do I like about atheists? It takes a lot of guts to stand up for your beliefs against such overwhelming opposition, and I think atheists deserve some credit for that.
Funny, but standing up for your beliefs is such a cornerstone of the Christian faith that you'd think they'd appreciate that more.
Oh, atheists that have chosen to break from organized religion (as opposed to those that simply followed their family into it) have to have given it a lot of thought too, and that is something else to be proud of.

I have met many wonderful people in R&S who are atheists and have had great coversations with quite a few. There have been many times where I've found myself cracking up over messages sent back and forth. As someone else already said, they're humans just like us...we just have different beliefs.

I like the fact that most athiests are fairly open minded. Granted there are a vocal few (as there seem to be in most religions) that are abrasive and rude, but most are interesting people and fun to talk to. I have to say that I do believe Athiesm is a religion too. Many of the athiestist I've heard from here prosletyze worse than any christian I've ever seen, that's for sure...

They have a sense of humor, and not all of them use it cruelly. Atheists' answers and jokes have made me laugh a lot more than the over the top seriousness of some theists. Having said that, I know most of them wish I would go away.
And agnostics, you are the best at discussing stuff in an interesting and respectful manner! I wish there were more of you. (Wait, no, I didn't mean it like that!)

I have found many on here who are very respectful. They know what it is like to be put down by so many others, so they generally don't treat others harshly. Also, most study the Bible more than many Christians. That is commendable on the part of the Atheists.

I don't DISLIKE athiests. I just don't happen to agree with their beliefs in the religion area. They don't agree with mine either, but that doesn't mean we need to dislike each other as PEOPLE . How are the tables turned? I don't like canned asparagus either. Should I have to look for something to like about people who DO like canned asparagus? That's ONE aspect of who they are....not the entire person.
You're NEVER going to convince a Christian to become an Athiest, and you'll never convince an Athiest to become Christian. That is a very personal choice, made by the individual...so...I don't preach my stuff and they don't preach theirs and it's all good. It's a mutual understanding.

I don't get it. I thought christians were supposed to be non-judgemental but the only thing I'm reading is about how athiests are going to hell and how their opinion is wrong.
I'm not a christian or an athiest but it bothers me to see how judgemental people can be. Why not have civil discussions and debates instead of pointing fingers?

On the whole, they tend to be more open-minded, more intellectual, with less tendency to readily accept what they are fed without question...basically, they tend to have more in common with me. Other than the slight spiritual difference.

Atheists are still people who have likable characters. We live not to pass judgments to Atheists, Christians or even non-Christians.
