Many christians misinterperet islams holy scriptures and make up things to claim that Islam preaches terrorism. Well, lets take a deep look in their scriptures!
Let me mention just a few verses from the Old Testament and New Testament and tell me what do you say about them:

“When the LORD your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and stronger than you. And when the LORD your God delivers them before you and you defeat them, then you shall utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them and show no favor to them. (Deutronomy 7:1-2)

“When you approach a city to fight against it, you shall offer it terms of peace. If it agrees to make peace with you and opens to you, then all the people who are found in it shall become your forced labor and shall serve you. However, if it does not make peace with you, but makes war against you, then you shall besiege it. When the LORD your God gives it into your hand, you shall strike all the men in it with the edge of the sword. Only the women and the children and the animals and all that is in the city, all its spoil, you shall take as booty for yourself; and you shall use the spoil of your enemies which the LORD your God has given you… Only in the cities of these peoples that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, you shall not leave alive anything that breathes (Deuteronomy 20:10-17)

Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man intimately. But all the girls who have not known man intimately, spare for yourselves. (Numbers 31:17-18)

Even in the New Testament we read the following statements attributed to Jesus saying to his disciples:

“I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence. (Luke 19:26-27)

"Do not think that I have come to send peace on earth. I did not come to send peace, but a sword. I am sent to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law" (Matthew 10:34-35)

Muslims believe in all Prophets sent by Allah, and so do not misuse or misinterpret the religious texts of other faiths in order to defame them. Even in recent times, Muslims have and are facing genocidal campaigns in Bosnia, Kosova, Chechnia, Kashmir, and Palestine - but they have not questioned Judaism and Christianity. Such spirit needs to be reciprocated.

Judeo Christianity and Islam are both as bad as each other when it comes to terrorism.

Modern day Christians point the finger at Islam and say that it is a fundamentalist religion which encourages misogyny and terrorism against those who are either unable to fight back (women) or who believe something different (everybody else except other Muslims). Look at the lives of women in Afghanistan under the Taliban or, indeed, Saudi Arabia (oops, I forgot, non-Muslims aren't allowed to wander freely around Saudi Arabia are they?)

But I think (correct me if I'm wrong please) that Islam is currently only about 1500 years old.

Look at Christianity in the 15th Century - crusades, inquisition, burning of heretics and witches, massacre of Jews and anyone else who believed differently.

In short, everything that fundamentalist Muslims are doing today. Unfortunately, when the Christian religion was the same age it didn't have the weaponry for mass murder, the casualties were therefore much fewer but had they had the capacity for mass destruction they would undoubtedly have used it to cleanse the world of unbelievers (Sound familier?)

The words Pot Kettle and Black spring to mind.

The only real difference is that Christianity has grown up a bit more and settled back into a comfortable middle age whereas Islam is still a rebellious teenager shouting its mouth off and trying to bully its parents into allowing it to take over the house for a party.

Send it back to its room (the Middle East) until it grows up enough to be sensible and then let it out to join the rest of the grown ups when it isn't all prickly and spiky like most adolescents.

By the way, I'm not a Muslim or a Christian - I'm a pagan and my religion has suffered at the hands of both these monotheistic thugs for a very long time. Perhaps it would help if everyone followed our central teaching of "Harm None."

Of course. All monotheistic religions have terroristic inclinations. Christians: Had the spanish inquisition, the salem witch trial, the crusades, the massacres of native americans, etc etc. I could go on for hours. Muslims: Had Jihads in the past, have them now, have suicide bombers, execute people who convert to a different religion, etc. Jews: Have led bloody violent campaigns against Lebanon, have been murdering innocent Palestinians for years, Israeli prisons regularly torture people using electricity on their penises and other terrible things. Which is why I'm a Buddhist. A religion that permits such horrors, by looking away when they happen or by using the name of their God to do it, I think thats wrong. By no means am I saying that all christians, muslims, and jews are murderers. I know many of each group who arent, but you have to admit looking at history and the present, those religions all cause more harm than good. peace

'for the record' SDW so are most of the Quranic verses that you people use to show Islam=terrorism, those ARE time and location specified so dont act cool when you are actually a stupid narrow minded weirdo.

and for those answerers that cant even spell 'terrorist' get hold of a dictionary mate.

whoever said that you use the terrorist acts commited by some certain 'individuals' as back up to your statement of Islam being a terrorist religion sorry to say you are even more narrow minded than SDW.... I mean how can you judge a WHOLE nation by the actions of a few of its followers who misunderstood something?

thank you muslim brother. Like I said, your questions are always interesting.

"Many christians misinterperet islams holy scriptures and make up things to claim that Islam preaches terrorism"

You are a bare faced liar (typical Muslim) They do not misinterpretate anything, the Quran does preach terrorism in fact Islam itself is wholly based on terrorism, the criminal Mohammed who all Muslims must emulate was a terrorist.

@Lazar: I am Muslim & I read Quran every day & I never read about killing Jews or Christians ??? but in the contrary, I became more kind & better person, I even respected animals and learned from Quran how to be kind to them, imagine then how it says about treating all human race, especially Jews & Christian, all wars of Islam was & will always be for the sake of justice & defending the weak, that monster that called Ossama Ben Laden and his followers are only figures to make you hate Islam, we our selves some how started to question our faith in it and thank Allah that we still believe in it

Come on Guys : use your minds for a while, they are filling your heads every single minutes with wrong thoughts about Islam for only political reasons

Muhammed is Allah's prophet, he was kind, genlte, brave and teached us Muslims how to be good persons, its not his fault that Muslims doesnt follow his lead now but all I have learned about him shows how great he is, and any one that want to hate him, will find all reasons to hate him, the problem is in your minds

And Muslims say that they believe in the Old and New Testaments as well as the Koran...

All this AND the Koran? Open eye, insert plank.

For the record, these passages you cite were very time and location specific. Islam is a religion founded on conquest (look how it spread, versus how Christianity spread for its first hundred years).

awesome!!!! u did a good job pointing fingers at christianity/bible.. i have always tried to understand why d enemity between tis 2 great faiths.. looking into histories, putting aside whatever is written in bible, christianity spreaded far n wide from jeruselam after christ taken up to heaven.. no record of violence being used for conversion of non-believers.. ALL knew of violence/compulsion used in spreading islam, even during time of muhammad e.g. into medina etc.. later the yrs of saladdin n caliphate states.. tat triggered the crusades into holy land... a tit -for-tat issue here.. it is all in the past.. can't kept bringing up tis mud-slinging now n then.. By the way, you can't use bible verses for arguement since your religion claim it is changed/modified. it only points at your weakness of islam in debate.. I come in peace with good faith..

All the verses you quoted, except for the last one, are explicit examples of the judgment of God. The last one however refers to the word of God as the true spiritual sword of division with the ungodly world.

Muhammad confirmed the Bible. He just had to make his own holy book. Muhammad was a violent man, and the growth of the Islam faith was through the sword.

Hope they understand, Islam is not a religion of terrorism.

On contrary to the teachings of Christianity, Prophet Muhammad warned his people during Wars about the killing of old people, women and children. And, only, if Muslims are attacked, they should defend themselves, whereas Chrisitianity is encouraging them to have War with other countries.

May Almighty Allah, show the Right Path to everyone and May Allah bless you for ur efforts (Ameen).
