Yes it is, and its one of the reasons I left my religion. The bible degrades women, and so does the Quran, and torah.
Religions speaks about women as if they are mere possessions. (Im a man by the way). Its chauvenism to say someone should not speak in church (book of Ephasians) cause they are female or that a man can beat his wife if she is disobedient (Quran 4:34). Its sickening in fact. Some of the most horrible abuses against women (raping, and beating, mainly) are allowed and encouraged in both Christianity and Islam (and Judaism).
If I ever have a daughter I will make sure she is raised atheist and raised knowing that she is equal to the men around her.
We are all equal.

Why would the Bible have to?
If any person has a mind to serve God, follow the Bible and live correctly, they would not be caught up on these frivolous issues. A person with such an inclination (to live rightly) and just a bit of common sense would know that it applies to everyone. There are circumstances in which the Bible addresses things to men and others to women, and the rest of the time, to all people.
Tit 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

Then simply bs. That is all an issue of potential besides. It is specific in each and every the town, town, state and nation. Heck each and every apartment or loved ones for that subject. How do you wish to have aid with a query with like no flawed reply? If this if for a speech magnificence, which I wager it's, they care extra approximately supply or content material. The problem with using "sistren" is that people would think that you're talking about a water containing structure.
Yes, many religions started as predominately male based and often is very sexist. This is strange as I'd guess that the majority of church regulars are women.

Yes, it is! I am glad that you noticed that!
Men need all the female support thay can get!
edit:
Have you ever wondered where Jesus would spend the nights?.... wonder no more... he had A LOT of rich women (not men) serving him.
Luke 8:1-3 NIV) After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joanna the wife of Cuza, the manager of Herod's household; Susanna; and many others. THESE WOMEN WERE HELPING TO SUPPORT THEM OUT OF THEIR OWN MEANS. (no miracles here! or were they?)
Mark 16:40-41 (NIV) Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome. In Galilee these women had followed him AND CARED FOR HIS NEEDS. Many other women* (*MANY other women... so Jesus was quite a popular good wine drinking playboy! Let's face it God the Son Jesus Christ was just another human being like any of us except that he knew how to be nice to the girls playing the role of God going around forgiving sins! Hey, who doesn't feel guilty about anything?) who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there

I guess it depends upon the religion in question. Christianity and Muslim religions do seem to be more male orientated than say the Jewish faith (a rabbi must be married) but there are religions that are more equality based just as I know there is a religion that is very much women centered (Dianic Wicca).
Blessed Be )O(

What else would you expect from a 3,000 year old patriarchy? Liberation of women is less than 100 years old, and it's not a coincidence that it parallels the explosion of atheism, democracy and human rights around the world.
