crucifix? Thats just horrible. You can get a crucifix anywhere, so why destroy something thats a part of your family heritage?
Its just so.... intensely wrong.
And its not even the fact that its a crucifix, its the destroying of a family heirloom. I mean, my mother has a family bible thats been passed down through the generations. Its an heirloom. I think the bible is crap, but I'd never destroy it because its part of my family history.
I once accidentally broke a 300 year old lamp that belonged to my family for all those centuries accidentally, and I felt so bad when I did it that I started to cry. Not because the lamp actually meant anything, I mean... its just a piece of glass. But it was a family heirloom. Important just because its a part of my family heritage.
I mean... thats just horrible to voluntarily destroy something to make it into something else.

Exactly. It would be like destroying my mothers engagement ring to make my own. Just horrible. I don't even have an engagement ring, my stepdad gave me my mothers after she died and its the most precious thing I own for no other reason than that it belonged to my mother. I'll always wear my mothers ring and my husband understands that.
I mean... not that anything should last forever, but its not like this is a building. Its an actual ring that can be kept and passed down through the generations. Its so much more valuable than the gold its made of.
