I'm a Christian, but I'm not uptight.

God is not uptight at all. He has no reason to be. He already knows the outcome. However, he HAS given us rules to live by, and he expects us to do just that, live by them with no excuses.

Just as we as parents expect our children to respect, and keep, the rules of our household. Same with God, and he's not happy with us when we don't. And there will be consequences for us if we don't follow God's rules, just as there are consequences if we don't follow our parents household rules.

That said, people (Christians) are uptight because they're coming from a stance of fear. They are fear-driven. That's why they're uptight. The fear Christians experience is not part of God's plan for us. In fact, He says in his word, "perfect love casts out fear." So, you see, when Christians are fear-based something is not right in their lives between them and God, and they project that discord onto the world.

To have a better understanding of how a Christian should conduct his life look at the life of Jesus. Jesus was never afraid. He stated his truth plainly, and allowed the listener to either accept or reject the truth he spoke. He didn't make a big fuss and accuse or blame or shame or try to put a guilt-trip on anyone. He simply told it like it is. There were times when Jesus' words were very strong, usually that was when he spoke to the Pharasees and Saducees, and only because their sins were so great.

How can God be uptight when He's perfect? We are still in the flesh and being in the flesh we have earthly feelings. No, we shouldn't ever be uptight, BUT, we are human and have human emotions God realizes this and so He sent Jesus to die for our sins and to intercede for us.

I went to see The Mist this afternoon, and the character of Mrs. Carmody paints God as a vengeful, strict, bloodthirsty God. In one scene, a man tells her that he believes in God, but that He's not the a$$hole she portrays Him to be.

I have to agree that no God could possibly be half as uptight as most of the Christians in this forum.

God is a relational God!

Christianity
Christians believe in a loving God who has revealed Himself and can be personally known in this life. In Christianity the person's focus is not on religious rituals or performing good works, but on enjoying the relationship with God that He intended and growing to know Him better.
Faith in Jesus Christ Himself, not just in His teachings, is how the Christian experiences joy and a meaningful life. In this life on earth, Jesus did not identify Himself as a prophet pointing to God or as a teacher of enlightenment. Rather, Jesus claimed to be God in human form. He performed miracles, forgave people of their sin, and said that anyone who believed in Him would have eternal life. He made statements like, "I Am the the Light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness...."(John 8:12).
Christians regard the Bible as God's written message to humankind. In addition to its being a historical record of Jesus' life and miracles, the Bible reveals God's personality, His love and truth, and how one can have a relationship with Him.
Christians confidently turn to a wise and powerful God who genuinely loves them. They believe God answers prayer and that life takes on meaning as they live to honor Him.

He has no reason to be, He is the creator and is in control. He laid out His plan in the scriptures and is watching it come to completion. He has no surprises, He is Alpha and Omega.
