My daughter is reading this book. It is a present from a friend of mine. My friend said to me "after reading this book, I stopped smoking". As my daughter started to smoke recently, she gave her the book so that my daughter could maybe quit smoke, too. However, what has happened is that the day my daughter started to read this book, she was freaking out about the end of the world and war and a possible "earth switch". I was scared of how much she was impressed by the book, and then she started to write random things on a paper and she said to me that thoughts were coming to her mind without her control and she was writing because she had a lot in her mind. I read what she wrote and it was a lot of nonsense sentences.

Any thoughts and opinions?

By the way, I believe in spirits and that they can communicate with us and I was wondering if my daughter was in connection with one.

or Is it a Freudian analysis of everything when no such thing exists?
For example in eastern cultures it's not such an issue with men hugging or holding hands as friends but it is frowned upon as homosexuality in the west!

What lasting purpose did all that wanton destruction serve? What did the god intend to accomplish with the flood, and was it accomplished in a long-term sense?

There must be a reason why the faithful always look constipated while praying. Does God hate prune juice?

We all know how many gullible people can be mislead by charismatic cult leaders, into doing the most ridiculous & sometimes unspeakable things just because "the master" told them to do it as they communicate directly with God. Why then, considering how easy some people are to convince, did Noah get NONE of his fellow people, except for his family, to get onto the ark? Sounds like he didn't really try very hard. Maybe he didn't want his personal space to be invaded by non-relatives?

I have been a mormon all my life but I don't feel so sure anymore. I love the Book of Mormon, and I have all my life. But I've found that it is just a storybook. A unique one of course, one with powerful words in it, but one that claims to be historical with little evidence to back it up. But I will not become "Christian" either. Mormons are more "Christian" than other denominations that I've tried out ( baptist, born again, fundementalist, catholic). They have a lot more christ-like attributes than other religions, they just offer no evidence like the dead sea scrolls, or even geographical evidence. I do however believe that God exists no matter what. So what should I do? I am so confused. And I don't wan't to read answers like "You're going to hell" from christians. I always get that answer from them. If god was that cruel what happens to the millions of Jews that died in the Holocaust and the millions of people like myself who are confused or misled? Please try to understand........

I seen a question earlier. It asked mormons where they claim the Bible says God cursed Cain with dark skin. I dont see it either. But can anybody show me the verse that is says cain was cursed with dark skin. I dont see the mark meaning dark skin. Maybe he was cursed with white skin. Maybe he was cursed with a big crooked nose. It could have been many things. Whats your thought's on this?

I've been kicked off this website more times than I can recall, and mostly because I've offended religeous types.

Before you boot me off again, I would like to know if it is in anyway possible for a religeous believer, or whatever you guys call yourselves, is it possible for you to give a straight answer to ANY question ever posed?

I was raised as a Christian and I gave up the faith because not one single priest could answer any question I had about the Bible. I've since stuck my nose (where it wasn't wanted) in about fifty other holy books, and I've talked to pastors, priests, gurus, shamens, rabbis, hiaundas, etc etc and not one of them has ever been able to give me a straight answer about anything.

I was just wondering if it was possible for a person who believes in any diety to give an answer that isn't:

a) a quote from their own holy book

or

b) completely nonsensicle.

Your hatred is both anticipated and appreciated.

Wouldn't you agree? Agnostic people, people who just don't know if there is a god or not, are the smartest. They're not stupid enough to be atheist and conclude there is no god, and they're not stupid enough to be Christian and conclude there is a god.

To sum it up, quite frankly, no one knows, and no one will know until they die. Agnosticism really is the smart way to go.

If God or the "universe" was to descend tonight and spoke to all of us and said " I will end all the world's suffering; ALL of it. But you all will have to get along and love each other for 1 year. No disrespecting each other, no judgements against each other, no prejudices...none of it. nothing but LOVE!" Could we do it? Could we actually put aside our petty differences for 1 year. Be honest.

He is serving a life sentence for stabbing a young girl to death and will not likely get parolled for many years. He has served twelve years already. The crime was committed when he was 18 and now he is 30. She has two children from a previous marriage and wants to have another child with this convict. They both "claim" that they are Christians. They knew eachother from childhood. They went to the same church.

Comments please.
